Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 136 reviewers.Rated 3 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Not worth the money I bought 2 Carreras, I had this bike for over 1 month there's problems with the chains and breaks on both bikes. I am disappointed with this product specially beacuse it very expensive, I do not recommend this bike to anyone. 22 May 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by kazbez74 Great bike It is my second Subway 1. I had one couple of years ago and after faultless use upgraded to a road bike. Road bike was lighter and faster but was not that reliable like my old CS1 (used daily as a commuter). I decided to buy new CS1 and I am happy to ride it again. Great value for money, good spec and always ready for a ride. 09 May 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Chazola Great quality bike I've always had mountain bikes but found myself doing a lot more road/track riding than serious off-road, so I put semi-slicks on my MTB, but with the small frame size and upright riding position I decided a hybrid would be a better choice. I read loads of reviews etc, I'm a fair-weather cyclist now and didn't want to spend loads, and this bike seemed to fit the bill. It's a really nice-looking thing, serious in matt black with black accessories, I was thinking I might change the tyres but they seem to roll really well on-road and have coped with a bit of dirt-track off road fine. Saddle is surprisingly comfortable for 'stock', disc brakes stop well, gears same as my MTB so no surprises there. It' feels more of a MTB than a road bike I'd say, but with an 'aggressive' riding position- i.e you lean forwards more. Very comfortable on road and track, lack of suspension shows itself on very rough ground though. A great bike for the money. 21 April 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by kevinweav Swapped from a GT Aggressor 2 mountain bike 10 years old - great decision Good advice from Halfords Kingsway Derby. Really great service and a good recommendation. Mainly cycle off road and first trip out performed very smoothly along canal tow paths for around 12 miles. Looking forward to getting back on it 20 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris19831229 Cannot fault this bike! This is the second Subway 1 that is in our house at the moment. Housemate had one for some time and he could not fault it over extended and short distance riding. Great bike that looks the part! Top hybrid for its price. 01 March 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by DarthDaver Love most of it but...the chain and... Bought this on saturday as an upgrade to my heavy and rather old MTB which I only use round trip to the station and occasional for a fun ride with my little boy in the muddy park. The bike looks the part, takes a while to get used to it, but once you do it is a great ride, a bit bumpy though but it is ok since I don;t need suspension. It breaks like a treat, gears are a bit noisy, only disappointment was yesterday, going up a hill I changed to the lower gear and the chain came out, damaging the side of the frame. Will definitely request a change for another sub1. The seat is standard and uncomfy, will swap it with my older MTB, it can be a bit heavy but it is lightweight compared to my old bike and is what I wanted for my commuting. 14 January 2016Rated 3 out of 5 by Photoj Not really a typical commuter Many of the reviews here praise the Subway as a good value commuter, hence why I picked one up. I find the Subway to be a strange bike. This is a rigid mountain bike with pretty racy geometry. You have the riding position of a road bike, but big chunky tyres which don't roll particularly well. This isn't a bad bike if what you want is a good value rigid mountain bike with an extreme riding position. However I haven't found it comfortable as a commuter. Riding position makes your ability too see around you reduced. Big tyres make pedalling pretty inefficient. The components are good. The disc brakes when bedded in are good, gear changes fine. It just seems a bit of a misfit. For rough trails you'd probably want a hardtail, for roads and paths a commuter with more efficient tyres and a more comfy riding position or a proper road bike. I was surprised that the entry level carrera bike was such a odd mix. I'm starting to get used to it, but wish I'd bought something else. 28 February 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Jellyhead70 Carrera Subway 1 Mens Hybrid Bike 2015 - 20" A comfortable ride and a nicely put together. Efficient gear system and effective disc brakes. 21 February 2016
