Alcosense Single Use NF Breathalyser Twin Pack

The Alcosense Single Use NF Breathalyser Twin Pack contains 2 alcohol tests which meet the new French law that breathalysers must be carried by all drivers as of 1st July 2012. Please note that only NF approved units are legal in France. NF stands for "Norme Française", which translates roughly to French Standard. It's the French equivalent of our "BS" or "British Standard"

The Alcosense Single Use Breathalyser is easy to use, showing you your alcohol level within 2 minutes. You simply blow through the tubes provided into the bag and watch which line the green colour passes by to work out your alcohol level. The breathalyser will alert you at 0.5% BAC which is the lower French drink drive limit.

With almost 1 in 5 drink drive accidents happening the morning after, having easy access to a breathalyser helps to ensure you are safe to drive.

A French necessity Stock hasbeen selling from stores very quickly ............ but no fear!!! Mail order resulted in a speedy and timely delivery. As yet, un-tested but the package is now in car awaiting French police inspection if I get stopped!! Seems good value if it avoids a 200 Euro fine. 13 August 2012
Must have item if you are driving in France. I have no intention of paying an on the spot fine to the gendarmes so ensured that I will be carrying this twin pack with me. This brand is approved by the French so I feel confident that I will be complying with this new French law. Remember that you can no longer used any device that warns you of speed traps in France from this summer. Bon voyage. 18 July 2012

Complies with French law Difficult one to review, as I have no intention of using the product! Purchased to comply with the new French law, as we will be driving in France this summer. Arguably there is little point purchasing these time limited items for trips ending before 1st November 2012, since my understanding is that the law will be enacted on 1 July 2012 but will only be effective on 1 November 2012. i.e. there would be no penalty for not having a breathalyser until November.
The statement: "Stay legal when driving in France - New law comes into effect on the 1st of July, don't get caught out!" on the item listing is not the full story and is a bit misleading.

Although the law is not enforceable until November, you will still be breaking the law if you don't carry a suitable breathalyser when travelling through France from 1st July 2012 onwards.

If it's out of date the French Police will not accept them. My box says they are good till April 2014. Then I'll have to buy some new ones.

The French single use breathalysers are valid for two years. If you are found to be driving without a valid breathalyser you will be fined 11 euros from November 2012
