ReviewsBoardman Mountain Bike Team HT 650B 2014 18 18650b Awesome bike. Love the handling and the brakes are sharp well worth the money 06 December 2014Great Bike I have a GT Aggressor which I also purchased from Halfords and liked that bike for days out on the West Highland Way near me. I decided to upgrade and went for the Boardman 650b which is a far better bike in all ways. It is lighter, faster and has great forks. So in summary its a great bike !! 01 November 2014poor brake set up Very impressed with this bike Handles great Rides great Only one grumble.the brakes are not set correctly. The front hydraulic brake is very soft and takes full brake pull to engage the brake. This is very bad for the pads and the rotor as it is heating both up and wearing both quicker. Few screws needed tightening but that's just down to sloppy building of bike. Hopefully the 6 week inspection will sort the breaks out!!!! 23 September 2014Worth the money Iv been out on the toughest trails Cannock chase can offer and so far the bike is holding up great! Well specked up! Time will tell on quality of the bike. 16 September 2014The independent reviewers are not wrong, this bike is great. As others have said there's some cable rub on the forks so I'll be applying vinyl patches, white grips are just plain wrong although they feel fine and the pedals are poor so I'll replace them some time soon. It handles like a dream with great gearing and forks and stops fantastically with fine disk brakes. I find the Racing Ralphs give good grip but after a few punctures due to flint and thorns going through between the knobbly bits I will be fitting tyre tape and tube gunge. All in all I love it. 01 September 2014Great bike with just a few niggles. Had my Team HT 650B for 4 weeks now. Picking it up during a sale since the lower price swung it over the Cube LTD I was also looking at. I've covered just over 300Kms of trails now ,so feel I've enough to write a balanced review. Some key points: - the forks are brilliant. They've soaked up a real pounding that I've put them through. The 120mm travel (as opposed to the typical 100mm) gives you a confidence to tackle more technical routes. They are a real strong point to the bike. - the Halfords team in Chippenham were brilliant. I read some mixed reviews beforehand on the Halfords web site, so was a little hesitant. But hats off to them, they built it a day early and took a lot of time with me to set it up correctly for my size and ride style. Thanks! A good customer service makes for a whole better experience. - I noted a comment on a previous review that the cables rub on the top of the forks and remove paint over time. This seems to be a generic problem with this bike. I suggest buying some of the vinyl patches you can get from places like Amazon. I got some as I saw mine starting to rub too. Cost me £2.50 - and that included a chain protector too so the chain slap on rough ground didn't chip the rear fork paintwork. - The stock pedals are garbage. Swap them. Seems naff that you spend a fair amount of cash on a quality bike which gets let down by poor pedals. The Wellgo pedals that come with it get lots of poor reviews on various forums. Mine did not freely spin. I've had them off twice to greese and lube them to get them spinning. One is ok, but the other is still not great. I've ordered a new pair which arrive tomorrow as I've had enough. That said, many bikes at this price range upwards don't come with pedals since they become a personal choice. So was a little surprised it came with some in the first place. - Overall build quality is very good. Happy with this. - The Avid Elixir 3 hydraulic brakes and exceptional. They've already helped me avoid a few hairy moments. - The web says it is 12.3Kgs - I don't doubt this, but it can feel heavy at times. However, I think this is more me still getting used to the gearing more than anything. Going from 3 chain rings at the front to just 2 makes for a whole different ride. I still get far better Strava times on my old bike :( - Some people have complained about the saddle being too hard. I seem ok with it - so I think this is purely a personal thing and whether your backside suits the shape of the bikes saddle. - the derailleurs now need a minor tweek, but that is what the 6 week check is for. - The white handlebar grips - why white? Look nice in the shop, but after they've been through a whole load of mud, they just look wrong. Overall, very pleased with the bike - but if you do plan to use it a lot, then get some patches for the cable rubs & chain slap, also change the pedals. You'll have a far better bike after that for not a lot of expense. I would recommend this bike for sure. Feels good value given the kit levels, weight (which was important to me) and ride quality. 30 July 2014poor gear change bought that bike about 2 months ago.and have been back to shop 4 times due to gear change problems.v disappointed about my first chris boardman bike. btw i would like to say big thanks to michael at silverlink halfords as he tried everythings to solve the problems. 30 July 2014No idea how good the bike is! After a few hours of riding the pedal fell off, then took it back to shop to be fixed. Got it back and the pedal fell off again within an hour. Now been waiting 6 weeks for Halfords to fix it on the warranty. Not sure if this is a problem with the bike or the way Halfords put it together. Unfortunately Halfords is the only place you can buy one from so hard to give it anything but a poor review. 11 July 2014
