Mountain Bike Rider, Hardtail of the year - under £750 "Killer Value with a great ride quality, this bike easily deserves top marks." Rated 10/10!
Halfords acknowledges that Mountain Bike Rider is a Trademark of Time Inc.

A bike that needs no introduction, the VooDoo Bizango 29er Mountain Bike is a trail-destroying beast that has a slew of awards to its name, and it's easy to see why. Bumpy trails are no match for this bike's specs: a 120mm Suntour Raidon air fork soaks up all those bumps like a sponge, and the 20 speed Shimano Deore drivetrain provides an excellent range with smooth changes. The Bizango laughs in the face of mud and obstacles thanks to its large 29" wheels and Maxxis Ardent tyres which provide fantastic traction without slowing you down. If things are getting too hairy, the powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes can be relied upon in all weathers, and it's topped off with a finishing kit that provides precise and direct handling. The Bizango is the bike that's always raring to go and sulks when it has to come home.

    • Frame: Lightweight double butted aluminium
    • Forks: Suntour Raidon 120mm fork with lockout for excellent trail performance
    • Gears: Shimano Deore 20 speed gearing for ultra precise and fast shifting
    • Brakes: Shimano hydraulic brakes for fast and efficient stopping

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 years in.... I have owned my Bizango now for 2 years (I have the first version) I am 6'1" and ride the largest frame. I am very much an enthusiastic beginner - and normally use the bike on set trails around the Surrey Hills - however have just had a weekend in the lakes with it (and some carbon packing grown ups) and have given it a steady beasting. On Day 1 I took it up as part of a group into Grizedale forest (A long ascent to get started) but rode a mixture of trails (including part of the North Face trail (Red only) - NFT) On the NFT The bike (and me) had to work really hard - terrain is single track, steep, narrow, wet and rocky with some good drop offs and mixed terrain - boulders. some small slabs, logs etc. At pace the bike rolled into the line well and the forks/ frame survived a total pasting - grip was good and it went where i needed it to go. What i learned - Let some pressure out of the back tyre, helps with grip, Need to get wider Bars (780/800) - I think this would have given me more confidence and more comfort. I will change the gear set (am still riding as delivered), fiddling around was costly on some very difficult climbs. Day 2. Tour De Coniston. (Parkamoor & Walna Scar) - This is a very tough ride and really put the bike through its paces - A real mixture of terrain. The descent to Parkamoor is wicked - feedback through the frame was good, forks took a total pasting and some of the drop offs were larger than expected but the bike held up really well in really punishing terrain (Dropper post would have been nice - I have the bruises ). Wider bars would have really helped with balance (some of the trail is steep & deep rutted). The final descent from Walna Scar was extremely testing - really mixed trails (loose shale) boulder, very steep, narrow etc etc. Again my £500 hardtail survived, and handled the terrain well, forks and brakes were tested to the extreme (Brakes were cooked by the time i got to the pub at the bottom). The frame is rigid - so there is a lot of bounce so you really need to be confident with your line and hold your nerve - I did the best i could, I won't win any prizes for style. I rate the bike, its a good all round entry level machine & i don't think you can go wrong. It's a great all rounder, very, very happy on the trail, and confident on the tough stuff - change the bits you need to, but think hard about what you want it to do, personally I wouldn't go bonkers. As I improve and my technical skills get better, then I will be looking for a nice full sus magic carpet..... 10 October 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Voodoo Bizango 29er 20 inch frame This bike has been excellent, with only a few niggles which can happen on any MTB:- - I have had to have the rear wheel trued twice now - Had to replace the rear wheel bearings as one had gone causing a hum on downhill sections and free wheeling. this was after a very wet and muddy ride - Bleed the brakes after having the bike upside down for a few hours. But overall it has been excellent 20 September 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Already worth every penny I bought the Bizango six weeks ago and I haven't been off it since. The massive tyres cause a fair amount of friction on tarmac, making you have to work a lot harder on the basic cycle. That said, I didn't buy this to do road racing and off-road is where it excels. 30mph downhill through forest tracks is not recommended but the bike gives you confidence as it handles the rough terrain. The seat is hard as stone but the more I cycle the easier it's getting. Still loving it! Long may it continue. 15 September 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by VooDoo Bizango Had the bike 3 weeks and ridden about 200 miles mainly offroad, and the bike has performed really well, for the discounted price there is nothing out there to touch it. Picked the bike up from Halfords Tamworth, these guys seem very professional and are obviously enthusiasts. Bike has gone back for the 6 week check, front mech needed adjusting and found a minor probelm with the rear bearing, they are going to have it in again to regrease or replace. 05 September 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Voodoo Bizango After reading the great reviews i took the plunge, not been disappointed, this bike has made me a better rider! Well made, good spec, nice colour (well i like it!) Halfords staff were pretty good, helped with setup, rode home from the store, moving things around to my liking. Been on some pretty good rough rides, nothing has broke or worn out! Ride with the sprits Just check size before you buy, i normally ride L 18" felt small, so I got XL 20" this time fits great 30 August 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great ride I've had a Bizango for three weeks now and have done about 75 - 100 miles on roads, trails and farm track. It's a great ride, nimble and geared sensibly for both on and off road. The forks take the edge off rough terrain and have plenty of adjustment so with a bit of experimenting you can get the bike set up to suit you. If you are a first time MTB buyer, get a suspension pump when you buy the bike as you may need to play with the PSI a little to get the forks working at their best. The only thing I've changed is the seat as I was finding the stock one a little uncomfortable on longer rides but apart from that everything's stock. If I had one criticism, it would be the build by Halfords. For the most part it was fine, but the attention to detail was pretty poor on two counts; front tyre was not fitted correctly and the rear reflector was fitted upside down. Nothing too serious, but with details like these overlooked, it encouraged me to give the bike the once over myself to ensure everything was OK before doing any distance. Four stars for value as I paid full price and everyone else I've seen review it seemed to get around £100 off for various reasons. 26 September 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great looks and performance Having reached my 40's I decided that I would take up cycling as a means to keep fit. I purchased a road bike in 2015 which did nothing except temper my enthusiasm. Having moved house I found the transpennine trail and so began months of research for a mountain bike. Based in South Yorkshire I visited the two big chains and a couple of independents and tried all the recognized brands. With a budget of about £600 I wanted to make sure that I could get the best bike for my money. I had no real preference on wheel size just that it had to be hard tail. Having narrowed it down to 3 possibilities I still wasn't sure as all had various pro's and con's. I went to Halfords just to have a look and as soon as I saw the bizango I was impressed with the looks and the spec comparatively was far better. I sat on the bike and there and then I purchased it. The only criticism I have with the bike is that I find the grips uncomfortable and there isn't much space between my knuckles and the brake lever. Other than that the components are great, the shocks are faultless and the bike is so light. I have had the bike around 6 weeks and ride it like I have stolen it. I am 6ft 5inch and at 17stone I have given it a lot to endure and it has not failed me yet. The build quality is fantastic and the confidence that it gives me particularly with the 29" wheels makes me feel like a fearless teenager again. Forget the so called big brands and save yourself months of research and trailing the missus and the kids around endless shops. 07 August 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Full of attitude The new bike looks fantastic and rides even better than it looks. It really wants you to ride it hard and gives you the confidence to do it with the sharp brakes and great front suspension. If you are used to £300-400 bikes and are wondering if it is worth spending the extra to buy this, you will not be disappointed. Love the 29" wheels, they just keep rolling. In all honesty the Halfords set up was a little iffy but a quick Google found a local expert to set it up for £40. Don't be put off, even with spending a few quid on having someone tweak the set up it is still incredible value. With the current 20% off and the 0% finance, you would be mad not to buy one. Good job Halfords. 30 July 2016
