Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5 by Andy6778 Great Deal Solid construction. Good quality. Great value. Front guards a little fiddly to fit but nothing major. 09 September 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by lgs64 xc1/xc11 mudgaurds easy to fit only product I could find for 29ers looks good on the bike works well 11 July 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by hazbeen Fitted to Haibike Sduro Fullnine SL ...400 frame ( 29 wheel) Bike shop tried several of their in stock mud guards but front was always a problem catching on the down tube. ( guards that were fitted to underside of fork ) Found this style on net and being fitted to the bottom half of the fork they looked like they would solve the problem. Read many reviews most good some bad and Halfords had a good price and returns policy so opted to purchase these. Glad i did, they fitted a treat both front and back, look good and may be a little on the expensive side but appear well made and up for the job. 16 February 2016Rated 1 out of 5 by MisterERider Maybe a one-off but... ...I found these mudguards a complete waste of money. It's difficult to match my experience with the overwhelmingly positive feedback that convinced me to part with my cash. Personally, I found that after a couple of short bumpy stretches (lumpy gravel tracks, no gradient), the in-store fitted front mudguard had worked itself down my front suspension fork and started rubbing the tyre. Now back on a tarmac footpath, I took rather more care as I rode but less than 100 yds further on the whole thing went SNAP! ...I had inadvertently discovered a hitherto unknown safety feature. Apparently, the mudguards are designed to come apart to prevent the wheel locking when an obstacle is too big to pass under it, only in my case, it was the mudguard itself that caught on the tyre. I also discovered that, however much I tried, the bolts could not be tightened any further because the metal was so soft that the allen key no longer had any purchase. For that reason, removal of the front guards involved taking a pair of pliers to the tail end of the bolt. On the plus side, the rear guard did everything expected of it and, while attached, the set did save me from a splattering of sheep poo. The only thing that I can think of that might explain this apparent paradox between my experience and that of others is the shape and/or finish of the front suspension forks they attach to - clearly this front mudguard set didn't suit my forks. Others may well be OK but worth bearing in mind... A quick word about Halfords - the click and collect service worked very well, the staff were always friendly and they didn't quibble at all about offering me a full refund. 21 June 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Hamish42 Easy to fit Easy to fit, look fantastic on the bike. Good quality and fit perfect for 29 er tyres. 16 November 2014Rated 5 out of 5 by Flatch mud guards top quality product, much better than i thought they would be, great design, and good instructions 28 September 2014Rated 5 out of 5 by RhysPOspreys Solid set for larger MTB frames. Ordered these mudguards online and collected from the Havant store. My delivery was waiting for me at the time and date specified. The mudguards themselves were easy to fit and took around 20 minutes to fit completely. The rear blade features a quick release lever so can be removed easily for travel etc. the front guards are bolted to the fork so cannot be removed as easily. These guards are on the pricey side, but trust me, you get what you pay for. The guards themselves feel solid when on and have already survived a few twists and knocks. They have been thoroughly tested through both mud and water and are extremely efficient at stopping spray, although a small amount will still get through when riding through longer stretches of water. As an aside, I found the staff at Havant Halfords to be most helpful and efficient. I happened to mention that I was considering purchasing a Boardman Team Carbon and wanted some advice about sizing. The younger lad then fetched his own Team Carbon from the back room and let me try it for size. I will definitely be buying from them again. 30 August 2014Rated 4 out of 5 by Colin77 They do the job I'm not a huge fan of mud guards but the recent deluges over the last couple of months have meant there is not a dry bit of trail anywhere and coming home wearing it is getting tiresome. I've tried a number of different guards that fit on the down tube which don't really do much but these are pretty good. They are not the most fetching but they do what they are designed to do which is keep mud out of my face. They are little bit tricky to fit initially but once they're on they are pretty sturdy. I have used them on a couple of fairly long XC rides including some small drop-offs and a lot of very uneven and rocky ground and they have coped very well. Also came off at one point and my bike ended up sliding down a bank but the guards stayed in place. The only downside I can see is the cost - they are a little expensive for mud guards but they do the job and do it well. If you spend a lot of time in the saddle and have a lot of mud to contend with I think they are probably worth the cash. 05 February 2014
