Inner Tubes FAQs
Are bike inner tubes universal?
Inner tubes aren’t one-size-fits-all. The right tube depends on your bike, wheel size, and valve type. A quick check of your tyre markings will tell you what you need, or you can ask in-store for advice.
Do bike inner tubes go bad?
They can, yes. Rubber can dry out or crack over time, especially if the tubes sit unused or are kept somewhere hot. If your tube feels brittle or keeps losing air, it’s time for a new one.
Where can i buy bike inner tubes?
You can pick up inner tubes at Halfords, with prices starting from around £4. There’s a big range for all kinds of bikes, and you can explore them online or pop into a store for some help choosing.
How to change a bike inner tube?
To change a bike inner tube you have to take the wheel off, deflate the tyre completely and then take one of those little tyre levers and lever one side of the tyre off the rim. Then remove the old inner tube. Make sure you have a good look in there to see if there is anything poking at you. Put a new inner tube in and put the tyre back on. Finally, pressurise the tyre to the recommended pressure. Halfords stock a wide range of inner tubes suitable for all kinds of bikes.
What inner tube do I need?
The right inner tube for your bike depends on the type of tyre and valve. Check the numbers on sidewall of the tyre, like 700x25C or 26x2.10 and make sure that they match with inner tube.
