About Our Motorcycle Batteries
At Halfords, we’re one of the UK’s leading suppliers of car parts and accessories, but we love two wheels too! We have over 100 years of experience delivering the products bikers want.
Bike batteries may be smaller than those in your car, but they need to perform. We produce a wide range of batteries, including lithium-ion batteries, maintenance-free batteries and high-performance YuMicron batteries.
All of the 12v motorcycle batteries we sell are pre-filled and ready to be fitted. Simply remove and replace the old one and you’re ready to go. If you want the easy life, choose one of our maintenance-free batteries and you’ll never have to touch it again.
How long does a motorcycle battery last?
On average the life of a motorcycle battery can be around 2 to 5 years, depending on usage, maintenance, and storage of the battery.
How long does it take to charge a motorcycle battery?
Charging time depends on the battery’s capacity and type. For lead-acid batteries, it can take anywhere from 6 to 24 hours to fully charge. Lithium motorcycle batteries, on the other hand, typically charge much faster, often within 1 to 3 hours. Always use the correct charger for your battery type to ensure safe and effective charging, and to avoid potential damage.
What is the voltage of a motorcycle battery?
The majority of motorcycle batteries are 12 volts (12V), but smaller bikes or older bikes might have 6V batteries. It's always best to refer to your motorbike's manual for the appropriate voltage.
How to check a motorcycle battery?
To check a motorcycle battery, use a multimeter to measure voltage. A good battery must measure approximately 12.6V and above. Load test it to verify that it’s performing well.
