What is a diagnostic check?

If a warning light or fault code has appeared on your dashboard, we recommend booking a diagnostic check at one of our garages to get it checked out.

One of our highly trained technicians can then assist with advising you of any recommended repairs to fix the problem, reset the engine management or warning light and prevent further damage in the future.

Halfords Autocentres use the latest state-of-the-art car diagnostic test equipment to help troubleshoot system warnings and check engine lights to identify issues early before a possible component failure occurs.

About the Diagnostic Check

Our diagnostic equipment checks for faults with:

• Engine management and electrical systems

• Lights

• Emissions

• Tyres

...and more to quickly identify any potentially costly problems.

The standard diagnostic check can take up to 1 hour. However, if additional time is required to complete the diagnostic check, a Halfords colleague will contact you for approval to proceed. Work will be charged at an additional £49.99 per hour

If a repair or replacement is needed, a no-obligation quote will be provided.

Quality Guarantee

All parts fitted at Halfords Autocentres and National Tyres Autocentres are guaranteed for a minimum of 2 years or 24,000 miles* (whichever is sooner). Some parts such as batteries include a longer warranty as stated on the product.

If a part we have fitted should fail, it can be replaced or repaired at any of our 600 autocentres. This guarantee only covers parts and labour, excludes any additional costs incurred due to a warranty failure.
