Reduce long-term running costs

The suspension system in your car works tirelessly on every journey, and as a result, its components gradually wear down and may occasionally get damaged. When one part starts to degrade, it puts extra stress on other connected parts. Therefore, regular maintenance can significantly reduce your long-term running costs.

At Halfords, we provide a free suspension check across all our network. Schedule your free suspension check today for peace of mind and if a repair or replacement is needed, a no-obligation quote will be provided.

Best Time to Schedule a Check-up

Most car manufacturers recommend a full suspension overhaul around 50,000 miles, but more frequent inspections, especially free ones, can catch problems early and prevent unnecessary damage. Regular adjustments also help maintain your car's handling. Many motorists opt to combine a free suspension check with a wheel alignment or rotation, typically done every 15,000 miles.

It's also wise to book a free suspension check if your car has recently experienced any significant bump or collision, been driven off-road, or if you've noticed any unusual noises, vibrations, steering issues, or abnormal tyre wear.

Consequences for Driving with Compromised Suspension System

Once wear begins to affect your vehicle's performance, your service provider will likely recommend replacing the worn part to restore your car's ride and handling. Driving with worn shocks or struts and other suspension components can lead to a range of consequences, such as:

  • Reduced braking efficiency
  • Loss of handling and control
  • Tyre wear
