Block Exemption Regulations

Our Halfords and National Tyres garages only use approved suppliers for OE parts or OE equivalent quality parts which meet the quality criteria set out in the Block Exemption regulations (BER).

The BER is a regulation which ensures your vehicle warranty is not affected if non-original brand (OE parts) are fitted, provided they meet the strict quality level set out in the regulations and you maintain your vehicle in line with manufacturer parts replacement intervals.

We will advise you of any parts that need to be replaced in line with manufacturer intervals and provide a no obligation quote to complete the work required.

So rest assured all servicing and repair work completed at our Halfords and National Tyres garages will not invalidate your car’s warranty and is covered by our 2 year / 24,000 mile guarantee*.

Block Exemption regulations – Regulation that confirms non-OE parts do not invalidate any vehicle warranty [EU 461/2010] and that vehicle manufacturers must share technical information and specifications on all components with other parts suppliers. EU legislation aimed at helping reduce the costs of maintaining and repairing your car.

Original Equipment (OE) – Can be identical part as original or same design made by same supplier but under a different brand.

Aftermarket parts – Designed to be equivalent to OE parts and meet strict quality tolerance level set by BER and all relevant legislation.

Typically we will use OE equivalent quality parts (also known as aftermarket parts) on our standard services available online. As covered above this does not invalidate your warranty.

Yes but this is only available if you call our garage to get a quote, our garage will check the service you require for your vehicle and provide a specific quote which will use OE parts as standard.

If OE parts are available we can provide a comparative price vs aftermarket parts, bear in mind this will likely be a higher cost and may not be immediately available – please mention this when booking with your local Halfords garage.
