What size water bottle is best for a child's bike?

I'd usually go for a smaller one. Kids don't tend to drink huge amounts on short rides, and a smaller bottle is easier for them to grab and put back without a struggle.

Can I attach a water bottle to a balance bike?

I've seen people do it, but it depends on the bike. Some have nowhere obvious to fit a holder, so parents often get creative and use a strap-on bottle cage or something that clips to the handlebars.
