  • EBCO UCR-10 Electric Bike is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 7000 miles and..... I've had my EBCO UCR-10 since February 2016 (17 months). The bike has been in Halfords for at LEAST a month during that time. Indeed, that's where it is now....again. I commute the (just under) 22 miles each way to my work, so a 'normal' bike wasn't really an option. I've ran up 7000+ miles to date in wind, rain, sleet, snow and on occasion sunshine! So, in reviewing this bike I feel well qualified. I've worn out 10 tyres, 4 chains, 2 bottom brackets, 2 gear cables, several brake blocks, 3 rear Cassettes.... The bike is heavy at 25 kilos. It has 4 power settings, although to be brutally honest power setting 1 is pointless in my opinion as it's just far too hard to keep the bike going. And the 4th power setting seems to be no different to number 3. I'd suggest EBCO just made it power settings 2 and 3 and I only use 2 when up against a head wind and it's might be touch and go as to whether I make the 22 miles to my work! The overall ride is hard. I'd suggest inflatable underpants....a patent I hope at some future date to secure! I've charged my battery (6 times a week) for around 340 charges. At present my bike is in for repair as the power keeps dropping and to be honest the bike is just too difficult to ride without power due to the active resistance from the front hub motor.....even when switched off and battery removed. DON'T get stuck miles from home with a dead battery!! The bike does look good and feels solid. When working it does make a huge difference and is well worth the price. Had I not moved home and halved the distance to my workshop, I would buy another. But, once this one dies I'm going back to Halfords for a 'normal' bike. The Halfords staff are very helpful. I feel I may now be on their Christmas card list. EBCO is also helpful and will answer questions to ask them. All in all, if the bike is for leisure and short commutes I'd go for it. I personally may be pushing the boundaries of the bike....still, I aim to get it to the 10,000 mile mark over the coming months!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A quality product. I bought my Ebco bike a week ago and have been very surprised at how good it is. It comes in a box with both wheels fitted so as you can imagine, the box is HUGE. Its just a matter of fitting the handle bars and pedals and removing the ton of packing polystyrene and cardboard. They tell you to charge the battery fully before riding the bike but what they don't make obvious enough is that you have to put the fuse in the battery pack before it will power up. I spent quite a while scratching my head before I realised that's what was wrong. I didn't like a few things that came as standard with the bike but that is more to do with how fussy I am with how a bike looks. I didn't like the old fashioned handle bars so replaced them with Aluminium butted ones. I had a slightly smaller seat so I put that on instead of the huge one that came with it and I also replaced the pedals with platform DH ones. Its a very well made rugged bike and on first impressions can feel like it weighs a ton mainly due to the battery but have no fear, this bike bike goes like the clappers and you wont be going back to a push bike after you have one of these. In even the lowest assistance setting you will feel a surge forward as you start pedalling and you have 3 more increasing power levels after that. Going uphill or facing into a gale are no longer problems with this beauty. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike This bike is great for commuting on roads with good conditions. However, as a result of not having a suspension, it is very bumpy when riding on rocky roads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent bike for the price Bought his and hers bike to enable the husband and I to cycle whilst travelling in our motor home. First day went 3 miles, 2nd day 15 miles. Both bikes assembled by Halfords and needed handlebar adjustments and the husbands bike kept shutting itself off electronically - currently back in for tweaking. So far we are very happy with both cycles and service. The added boost when battery kicks in helps the arthritic knees and kids you that you are keeping fit. Seriously though, this appears to be a great buy that enables you to enjoy cycling with slightly less effort than an ordinary bike. Too soon to rate as overall excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall Quality I have had the cycle now for just over six weeks and I am 100% made up with it. it makes light work of the journey to work and back. the build quality is good, gear change nice and smooth and would recommend the bike as a whole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great investment Whilst the weight of the bike may initially put you off, the build is tremendously sturdy and gives a real sense of quality. Any weight concerns disappear within seconds of your first ride, effortless and very easy to control,. 2 and bit pedal turns and you feel as though someone else is helping push you along. Hills are a breeze and such fun as you pass other cyclists, I will say that you may want to petition your local council for decent cycle paths as the lack of suspension can give quite a sore backside. As others have mentioned before me I wish I'd bought one ages ago. I heartily recommend this bike.
