Halfords Ford Panther Black Scratch & Chip Repair Kit
The Halfords Ford Panther Black scratch & chip repair kit is compatible to Ford manufacturers code: 17V, D, G, G, 2851CM & JAYC.
The touch up paint is the ideal way to repair small unsightly scratches and stone chips on your cars bodywork, blending them in with an exact colour match.
Simply use the special glass fibre prep tool to remove any loose/flaking paint and all rust from the chip or scratch. Then apply the high build primer filler using the precision nib applicator or brush into the prepared rust free chips and scratches, building up the thickness in stages (leaving 10-20 minutes between coats) leaving 24 hours to harden.
Lightly rub down using abrasive side of special tool to achieve smooth finish, then apply your colour match using the precision nib applicator or brush to the prepared and primed chips or scratches. Build up the colour in stages by leaving 10-20 minutes between each coat*. Leave the paint for 24 hours to harden then simply buff the surface using fabric side of special tool to blend in the repair.

Halfords Ford Panther Black Scratch & Chip Repair Kit is rated out of 5 by 5.Rated 3 out of 5 by Levz65 from Panther black scratch and chip paint repair This product is good for stone chips if you follow the instructions to the letter but for scratches, especially deep ones, would need to be sprayed rather than using a brush the nib is good for tiny blemishes. Overall unless you are an expert doing this leave it to the pro'sDate published: 2016-06-23Rated 1 out of 5 by YR84 from Avoid by all means! I purchased it to try to fix some minor patches/chips assuming it would do the job (seems someone just splashed something corrosive onto my car that etched through the paint up to the primer and I wasn't around to wipe it all off). I should underline that I did not expect a salon finish after the repair but what I actually ended up with is just horrible. Firstly, the colour does not match (either it's slightly lighter in general or it mixes with the grey primer upon the first application, or even both!) and you can see where exactly your colour-mismatched fix is. Speaking further about the paint, it's pretty transparent and you need to apply a few layers to try to get more or less matching "thickness" or "richness" of the colour. And guess what? This thickness in order to get a proper shade results in even more visibility of the area you aimed to repair as eventually it may look like a little hump! Remember, you are told to rub down the excess of the primer "to achieve the smooth finish", therefore you've flattened the surface before applying the paint. And if you apply more than one layer on top of your flat surface, it won't be as flat anymore, will it? Secondly, the brushes of the kit are not suited for anything that is different from a fine line or a tiny scratch. Halfords, please call it scratch repair kit, as chips are impossible to fix using these brushes unless they are microscopic dots! Or simply do not call it a brush. It looks more like a thin eye liner (if you know what I mean, or ask your other half how it looks like before purchasing this kit) rather than a brush and is not much different from the precision nib applicator included. Thirdly, the abrasive tool to remove the excess of the primer does not work at all. I had to drive back to Halfords to buy a sort of very fine sand paper for polishing (spending more ££) to try to flatten the primer (see the issue above with the brushes, hard to get a flat surface with a string-like brush). And finally, I did not even get what the "fabric" side of the abrasive pad is. It says just to buff the surface to blend in the repair, in reality it basically does nothing. And yes, be careful with a glass fiber tool to remove any flakes, it is the only thing that really does the job but you may end up with wider surface to further cover with paint that you started with, and then you'll have all the issues with the brushes, primer and paint that I've got. As I wrote earlier, I did not expect wonders and originally I just wanted to prevent the chances of corrosion and I was mostly worried for the possibility of rusting. But I also expected to buy and use the kit that does what it says on the box and will be really suitable to fix the chips with at least some aesthetics, rather than painstaking attempts to use a mm thick brush over a less than a square cm area of the chip (see photo attached). I believe this will do the job for some very minor scratches (though T-cut will be as good and cheaper), for something deeper or vast affected areas you'll need to bring your car to a garage for a partial re-paint, if you're worried for how the body of your car will actually look like afterwards.Date published: 2016-06-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Bazza85 from Great match and easy to use kit Very impressed. The colour match is really good and I actually couldn't find some of the scratches after using it. The primer is a blended filler which helps build up any gouges so all in all, everything one needs to do a good chip repair.Date published: 2016-05-09Rated 4 out of 5 by Mostafa from This product is good for minor scratches only Can be used for minor scratches, looses accuracy for bigger scratches as it becomes noticeableDate published: 2014-10-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Gord1 from Ideal for stone chips The little tool for cleaning/roughening the chipped area is a work of genius! The paints are well designed too in that you have the choice of a pen nib - which gives a very fine line of paint like a rollerball writing pen, or a brush - which is much finer than the other half's nail varnish brush! I think that this is a well thought out kit with all you need to go over those small marks. The thing to remember is that chips are not possible to completely disguise without resorting to a major sanding down and a respray. - And a respray of a metallic paint means doing the whole panel if you dont want it to be obvious, which in turn means getting it done professionally or at the very least by using a proper airbrush and having many hours of practise beforehand. But for small stone chips and cuts have a look at so-called professional chip repair work on any of those ex-lease cars that are on sale and you'll see that they don't achieve anything better than what you can get from careful use of one of these kits. For those tiny marks on your bumpers and bonnet this is ideal. If nothing else it will delay the onset of the cancerous rust!Date published: 2011-08-15
