Genral Purpos GRP Repaii? I used this to repair damageto sailing foils - In the past I've used marine grade products at great expense. This was an interesting alternative - only flaw is it does not bind so well to rough surfaces. Lets see how it survives the sea... 02 May 2012

Hi, thanks for your interest in David's Isopon P40 Kit 250ml. First you must remove all rust by sanding the surface down until you have bright shiny metal. Then apply David's Isopon P38 car body filler (item code 711663) to fill the dent. Enter item code into the internal search bar to locate the product.

Hi, thanks for your interest in David's Isopon P40 Kit 250ml. P38 would be suitable for filling dents and small cracks. After this cures, the manufacturer recommends using a waterproof paint system over the repair.

Answer:
Hi, thanks for your interest in David's Isopon P40 Kit 250ml.P40 is a glass fibre bridging compound, for covering small to medium sized holes, for examples holes/gaps left in a metal body by rust. P38 is a body filler, for filling in dents and scratches, which have not perforated through the metal. To repair a hole left by rust, you can bridge the hole using P40, and then smooth over the repair using P38. This can then be sanded, primered and painted. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Davids will only recommend P.40 or any of bodyfillers as temporary repairs on metal petrol tanks as the petrol will eventually work its way back through due to capillary action where the repair area was abraded. This could be a few weeks, a few months or longer but this is determined by how good the repair is. There will be no problem using P.40 for repairing glass fibre petrol tanks but these tend to be on older motorcycles only.
