Not fit for purpose I purchased this bike with the intention to occasionally ride it into work. The first time I rode it the grips on the handlebars slid off. The second time one of the low quality plastic pedals cracked. The third time one of the teeth on the gear cogs actually bent, resulting in me not being able to use two of the gears. This all happened within the space of two days and I had travelled les than 20k on it. Don't waste your money, absolutely not fit for purpose! 08 September 2012
Awful Don't mean to rant - but worst thing I have ever spent money on - saddle is painful but could have lived with that - but the chain falls off every half a mile, bike sounds like its breaking every shift, gears 1 and 6 just don't work (chain falls off) after 60 miles the grip shifters stopped working, wheels came buckled...quite frankly invest a little and buy something that will actually work...awful 21 August 2012
Great value, just buy !! I checked out mountain bikes in this low price range from all the usual outlets and found this bike by far the best value for money bike available. Gears, brakes, comfort and looks are of a high quality. A cheap bike to buy but ticks all the boxes. Other reviews on this bike are a touch harsh but I cannot comment on any major issues, taking into account of the price. I popped on a gel saddle cover for additional comfort and away I went. GREAT BIKE. 18 August 2012
Not impressed Purchased bike in May, First time i rode bike got about 3 miles from home front gear mechanism buckled. Had to take back again July This time rear gear mechanism buckled so not impressed with bike you may say but it is not a dear bike but i do not expect it to brake so soon have to pay numerous visits to my local Halfords I purchased it to ride not to push. 10 August 2012
Excellent value! Bought this bike because of the bargain price. Performs well when riding over long distances, has very good tyres and nice frame. The saddle does dig in a little so be warned but otherwise this an excellent bike with very few cons. Highly recommended. 28 July 2012
A good basic bike. Halfords service and delivery was excellent. The bike is simple, robust and good value. There is some putting together so make sure you have your bike spanner and pump. 13 June 2012
excellent quailty it was very easy self assemble and came with clear instructions. The performance of the bike is very good for its money's worth and was very surprised of the appearance of it as well considering it was quit a low price. When making make sure you have the right tools as the tools that were provided werent very effecient and didnt fit propely into the right keys. the gears are abit stiff but other than this the performance of the bike it great. 12 June 2012
Trax Tr1 Mountain Bike 19" A sound entry-level bike . Bought to replace a 15 yr old bike of similar spec , and not disappointed .Easy to assemble , and everything works as it should . As a ride to work tool it's ideal , but would suggest spending a little more if you do any real distance ie. 10 mile round trip . Cannot fault this at the price . 10 June 2012

specs for trax tr1

hi, just bought a trax tr1 and as a complete novice, my technie knowledge of this bike is zero. was not "talked through" the bike by the sales assistant (i know, i should have asked!). now trying to understand how to remove the front wheel to transport the bike in my car but haven't got a clue how to do it (the handbook i was given is soo generic that it's no help). any advice would be much appreciated. thx.

Answer:
Please follow the process outlined to remover the front wheel from the bike. 1 - Unhook the front brake: Pressing both arms of the V-Brake together, you will be able to unhook the metal noodle from the holder (this is located by the rubber boot). Once this is unhooked the brake will open wide enough to allow the front wheel to pass through the brake pads. 2 - Release the wheel: Using a high quality 15mm spanner undo the locking nuts on both sides of the wheel. These both use a standard thread and are therefore realease by untightening in an Anti Clockwise direction. Undo the bolt several turns, but do not completely remove the bolt from the axle. 3 - Safety Washers: When the locking nuts have been released enough you will be able to unhook the two safety washer from the locators in the fork legs. The wheel can now be slid out of the fork. 4 - Refitting: Refitting is the reversal of this process. Please ensure that the safety washers are located correctly, that the wheel nuts a tightened sufficently and that the brake is also reconnected correctly. Hi there, is there a road type tyre available at Halfords for the Trax TR1 (rather than the mountain bike knobbly tyre type on the bike already) as I would like to do more riding on the road. If so would I need to change inner tubes as well? Thanks very much.

Answer:
Slicker 26" tyres such as the Continental Sport Contact (964460) are available from your local Halfords store. This type of tyre will generate less rolling resistance and will therefore be more efficent on harder surfaces. Should you require any further assistance please go to your local Halfords store where a member of staff will be happy to help you further.

Answer:
Even though the bike does not feature female specific geometry it does not mean that a female rider could not ride it so long as there was a comfortable standover height on the top tube. For more information or to try the bike for size please visit your local Halfords store where staff will be happy to help you further.
