The Sony MEX-BT3900U CD-tuner with multi-format playback (MP3, WMA, AAC, CD-R/RW) transfer of music from MP3 players to your car radio with Bluetooth, USB or AUX port. Built-in microphone for Bluetooth handsfree calling which can be used with a compatible Bluetooth ebabled phone.The MEX-BT3900U has internal memory for mobile phone contacts (when connected via Bluetooth) & Bluetooth Audio Streaming A2DP protocol.

This head unit fits into 95% of cars.* A wiring harness adaptor may be required (additional cost). For cars fitted with a non standard sized car audio unit a new fascia adaptor will be required (additional cost). Great stereo Easy to install and set up. The bluetooth is good quality, and so is the sound quality. Love the fact that if you,re listening to music on a usb stick, it remembers the last track when you remove the stick. 24 September 2011
Sony MEXBT3900U CD/MP3 Player Excellent piece of kit. No need to fiddle with connecting your phone each time you get in the car, it's there instantly. value for money so many features which are useful- USB connection - you can have 1000 songs on 2gig usb , with random selction option, connect your mobile asd so have handsfree from your mobile 19 May 2012
So Far So Good It does everything i want it to do, hands free calls, able to voice dial using the device, and no need to install a microphone. It displays my song titles and can skip songs through bluetooth, and when connected can search, although as the driver it is a but fiddly. Music quality is good, lots of settings to play around with, and plays spottily. Also has the ability to charge my phone (iPhone) when plugged in via USB which is handy. 15 May 2012
Nice unit So far so good, very pleased particularly the USB port which works well with a 16gb memory stick saving a load of grief with CDs. Seems to be a good buy. 14 May 2012
Sony Mex bt 3900 Very happy with this purchase as I ordered it online which worked out about £30 cheaper than in store. The Bluetooth feature is brilliant, we can sit outside our campervan and stream the music from my iPhone back to the head unit...cool as...! Buy one of these, you won't regret it :) 13 May 2012
Fitting a new CD player to my 17 year old Merc! Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at Halfords,Bangor,NI., for their patience and good humour in fitting my new Sony CD player. When you consider the last one fitted was a tape player 17 years ago,there were bound to be challenges and thats without the stormy weather. I will certainly be using them again in the future. 11 April 2012
Great product at this price This was installed quickly and efficiently in to my CRV by Halfords, it links to my iPhone 3gs and my wife's iPhone 4s without trouble via the built in bluetooth or you can plug it in via the front USB. Tuner and CD are great and it sounds way better than the OEM kit that was taken out. Thoroughly reccommended 14 March 2012

I have just received this stereo by post today and await to have it fitted at Halfords. The Halfords website spec says "Not made for IPhone" so I assumed it was ok for android phones.

The Sony online compatibility checker says it is compatible with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) but with restrictions as far as Bluetooth is concerned. It does not deal with other functions through USB for example.

Contrary to the halfords website, on the stereo box delivered today it says "Made for IPod / IPhone" so I am now concerned as to whether it will work sufficiently with my phone.

Will I be able to plug my phone in with USB and (a) play mp3 (b) charge the phone at same time and (c) make/answer telephone calls handsfree?

Is this stereo worth it for my phone or will there be too many functions I cannot use?
