  • Carrera Vulcan Electric Mountain Bike - 16", 18", 20", 22" Frames is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent so far I had my eye on this bike for several months but I couldn't justify spending full asking price. However, I noticed (on Christmas day!) that it had been reduced online, and after finding a discount code for a further 10% off I couldn't resist! Staff at the Chester Sealand Road store we're very helpful as always when I picked it up. I've only used the bike once so far, but that was a fairly longish 30km round trip and it performed faultlessly. It really is like someone is giving you a push exactly when you need it! I managed to ascend a few very steep hills which would have previously beaten me. Only downside for me is the saddle, which is a tad uncomfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good budget-priced introductory MTB! (Part 2) I bought my Vulcan from Halfords in March 2017 and this proved to cut out on its initial 3 rides. Halfords exchanged the bike at my request without hesitation at the beginning of April. To date I have now covered 944 miles on 60% country lanes (20% gradients) and 40% off- road national trust medium trails.Since last April my Vulcan has been used weekly but not in rain. The off-road rides has included muddy conditions and also gradients up to 20% which the Vulcan dealt with effortlessly. The lithium battery still shows its normal maximum charge at 99%. This is always removed from the bike for recharging and kept indoors in safe storage (it won't like storage in a cold garage or shed especially over winter). Cut outs have still occurred on my replacement Vulcan with an overall average to date (April - Dec 2017) of 1 in 7 rides. But pressing the battery button then the display button soon has power restored. Seasonal weather temperature changes appear to have little effect. Bumpy roads and trails do appear to influence cut outs. However, generally speaking the Vulcan handles itself well and its off-road trail riding ability is surprisingly good. Most of my rides are conducted in Eco (25% assistance) or sometimes Tour mode ( 50%) for the steeper bits. Climb mode (75%) is impressive with Sport mode (100%) exceptional up to 15.5 miles per hour. It should be remembered that this is a budget priced electric MTB and should be respected and handled accordingly to get decent durability from it. Generally speaking the Vulcan is a pleasure to ride and, faults aside, I am well satisfied with its performance so far. Would I buy another Vulcan E? ...Yes I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carrera Electric Bike I bought this bike second hand. I must say that I have been really impressed with it. The power you get is perfect. I have been on 2 good ride outs and love it. I was not sure what the power would be like, but I find eco mode is fine for most times, and just swap to climb for the hills. I have done 18 miles with mostly hills and when I got home, I still had 70% battery showing. The wires are tucked away perfectly. The display is bright for night cycling, and easy to swap between modes, even with wearing gloves. I am 6ft tall and my bike is a 16 inch. To be honest although I would have bought a larger frame, this was too good of an opportunity to miss out on, and it is fine for me as the seat post goes up high enough for me. The style of the bike is really nice. Buying new I would still say it is worth the money.I like the trip computer & the mph clock which is built it. The only thing I have purchased is a suspension seat post, but that is purely down to me spoiling myself. The original seat is surprisingly comfy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look no further! Great bike! I’ve ridden a bike every day for work and a lot for leisure over the last 20 years, always struggled with the wind in the wrong direction so after trying out a friends Vulcan E I just went for it! Brilliant! Very easy to ride, no problem with hills and no problem with wind in the wrong direction! Thoroughly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exellent Bought this 2 weeks ago and got nearly 300 miles clocked up already , had it on cycle scheme witch is an exellent scheme, now and again the system switches itself off but this is rectified once reset (leave 30 seconds, press battery indicator on battery then turn on computer resets but keeps your memory on journey total etc) also had an issue where chain came off and ripped wire out of speed sensor and stating error 21 however it was a big job 3 hours took back to halfords and they were exellent had it repaired on the same day (this was because when they put the bike together the chain guard wasn't fitted to the sensor wheel on front gard however when they fixed they said that was the reason and the put it where it should be this just stops the chair mangling any wires when it does come off the minor issues I do have I'm gunna get sorted on first service like battery don't reach 100 percent when fully charged (99 percent) and in the manual it states when it doesn't reach 100 percent the battery needs replacing however it's working nice and the Warrenty covers this! I used to sweat but this bike is perfect in general and on climb/sport takes you up hill overall highly recommend and exellent value for money would recommend this over a full power electric bike witch will cost 3 grand plus and you also get the exercise being power assisted
