Carrera Subway 1 Mens Hybrid Bike - 18", 20", 22" Frames is rated out of 5 by 35.Rated 4 out of 5 by Gaveee from Superb all round bike I bought the Subway One from the Bournemouth store a year ago. I use it to cycle to university, the beach and the forests. This bike hasn't been phased in the slightest, it rides well, feels good and looks good. The bike was built for a gentleman previously who had a slipped disc he tried it and didn't want it so I got a couple of customised items with it. The main thing was the Satori Heads-up4 which is a handlebar riser. It's nice to have the handlebars higher you feel more superior and like a king compared to other cyclists and its good for the back. The only problem with this bike and most other modern bikes is the seat neglect. If you haven't cycled for a few years and decide on your first day of purchasing going on a marathon like I did prepare for your buttocks to be hurting for the next 12+ hours.Date published: 2018-04-04Rated 5 out of 5 by Bond42 from Great looking I brought 2 of these bikes one for me and the other for my son Both very pleased with them but only time will tell have only had them for a couple of weeksDate published: 2018-02-21Rated 4 out of 5 by urbanbicyclerider from Nice Hybrid Commuter Overall this bike is fair value for money but will need looking after. The frame is aluminium, sturdy and offers enough flex whilst still being responsive. The paint however is very thin and chips easily, there's no lacquer and the decals are under the topcoat and can not be removed. I would prefer wider handlebars and they rise unconventionally. There's a few spacers if you need to lower them. Having had XT shifters in the past, I really notice the difference with these, the throw is long and not as smooth. Gear ratios are fine, although I'm rarely out of top on my commute. The chain was too long, I removed two links to stop the rear pulley grinding on the large sprocket. The chain needs cleaning regularly to prevent rust. The stopping power is comparable to older hydraulic brakes, and upgrading the pad compounds improves this further still, do bed the brakes in to reduce squeaks. As normal only one pad moves consequently I have to adjust them every month which is a pain, something to upgrade in the future. The disks are OK, they do get hot with prologued braking but where not bent on arrival. The wheels however did need some work, the spokes where initially a little loose and the rim lost shape on the kerbs quite quickly. The bearings have quite a bit of friction and I'll change them for better quality once they wear out. Kenda tyres are grippy and not wearing too fast so far, it's taken a lot to puncture one of them from glass on the road. Sealed square bottom bracket may be the first thing to give up. The saddle flexes a bit more than I'd like, the shape is fine and length good but I think the seams could be better positioned and may split over time. Ditched the peddles quickly, heavy and little grip. Take the time to clean and grease this appropriately and it will last a good while.Date published: 2018-01-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Jackoub from MR A very good and nice bike I recommend the Carrera bike very much .Date published: 2017-12-16Rated 5 out of 5 by gary1978 from Just the bike I purchased this bike online and had it home delivered for me to build at home. It arrived by courier and I built it at home with the help of my 3 yr old running off with all the parts. It was easy to build not really needing the instructions. The bike it self is very smart and perfect for my ride to work and back again which is only a 30 min ride. The saddle is a bit hard but i will get used to it in time. There is no suspension but I am happy with that. All in all it is a very good hybrid bike and I would recommend it.Date published: 2017-12-16Rated 5 out of 5 by Stan8963 from An excellent quality bike for the price. This bike feels really sturdy, it has 24 gears, disc style brakes and wide tyres which give a more comfortable ride. Gear change is Shimano lever type which I find much easier to use than twist grip I us d to have.Date published: 2017-12-09Rated 5 out of 5 by Stoneageman from Great Bike at a Great Price Had this great bike since 21st Nov 2017. Price was reduced by £70 so seemed like a bargain. Ordered online and delivered to my home with ease. Most of the bike was assembled when it arrived and didn't take long to add front wheel, handlebars and saddle. i've only done about 40 miles so far but compared to my 20 year old worn out steel bike it is a dream. Gears are great, comfort good, ease of handling great and generally a joy to rideDate published: 2017-12-04Rated 5 out of 5 by McDerminater from Great bike Great bike for the money handles well and very comfortable for traveling long distance would recommend to a friendDate published: 2017-11-23
