Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5 by Nannysgirls Great bike Bought this for my son as he's unable to drive & he's very happy with it. He's able to get to work in record time & loves the feel of the bike. 27 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Pugga Great Bike Had this Bike about 4 weeks, and ridden 400 miles. Great sale price at £550 Swapped the tyres from 622 x 28's to 35's, for more comfort on towpaths & tracks (you can fit upto about 40's on the standard Mavic wheels. Gears give a good range on steep climbs and decents & positive gear change. brakes are excellent. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a mixture of road & track riding. This Bike makes me smile every time I ride it. 20 October 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by SleeperService Probably the best flat handlebar bike at the price... I had considered buying one of these when they were £750, so four weeks ago or so when they dropped to £550 it was a no brainer. Where else would you get a spec like that for the money? The bike feel is everything you would expect from a 10kg hydro-formed alloy frame with carbon forks - light, robust and very agile. The SRAM Apex gear set coupled to SL700 MB shifters are great - it changes without fault, although it can clunk a bit on the bigger cogs. Don't be fooled by this being SRAM's entry level road bike offering - it's better than Shimano's Tiagra, and not far off their 105. My one slight annoyance is the brakes. They're good, but hydraulics can be a bit twitchy to set up and mine need bled a bit as there's a spongy feel to the rear brake. That'll be a fifteen minute job at the six week check up in a week or so. The tyres are so so, but I just arranged for them to be swapped for winter commuters anyway. The bike is now £600 and even at that price it's an absolute steal. I'd recommend this bike to anyone. 16 October 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Balmesz001 Great commuter for bargain price I was looking for a light weight bike, which can be used for commuting on road and for sporting purposes as well. So the 700x28 tyres are just perfect, fast on solid road but can be used on muddy road as well (with some limitations of course). The bike arrived in box, it was easy to assembly it. I had to adjust the brake calipers only, other parts were working smoothly. SRAM Apex derailleurs are perfect, much better than expected. They are precise, fast and quiet. FSA Gossamer MegaExo is light and solid, it was a great choice by the designers. After 500km in the past 1 month, the bike is still perfect, no adjusment or repair needed. The only problem is the paint on the frame. Its quality is very poor, it is very sensitive against every kind of impact. 16 September 2015Rated 4 out of 5 by daveb1st An amazing bike.... a few minor niggles.... I did a lot of research ahead of buying on the ctw scheme. I have a 15 mile ride in to work, on decent paths and cycle ways. After 12 mths I've done 600 miles - not much for some, but 600 more than usual for me! First off, coming from an old MTB I could not believe how little effort to power this along. Averagely not fit, I was cycling the 15 miles each way and feeling pretty fresh - expecting to be spent... The spec of decent entry level gear, carbon forks and hyd brakes. The frame lack of visible welds makes this look like a carbon bike - nothing else matches this that I saw. All up weight is impressive, more like a road bike weight. I made some small changes that resulted in big improvements. Some decent new hand grips with bar ends, water bottle holders and decent lights. Tyres ok as standard, 1xpuncture. So after a year it seems this start to cycling was not a fad - and I put that largely down to investing in a decent setup that's a pleasure to use. Would also recommend taking the same approach for clothing and helmet, some basic tools and decent floor pump. To take the shine off a little, it's been back in a number of times with bearing probs. Rear wheel needed regreasing and bottom bracket needing attention and eventual replacement. Since I only ride on made ground in fair weather this is a little dissapointing after not that many miles - some folk I know would knock off that 600 in a month! I would say though to counteract that the staff at Halfords MK have been really excellent. Prompt and friendly service at all times. Overall it's been good enough for me to want to stay with the boardman brand and MK store - so next round of ctw, I'll be in for a pro hybrid.... 11 September 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by saints0001 Boardman Hybrid Team Bike - 54cm manged to get this bike when it was in the sale at 549 then bought it on a 10 percent day so was just under 500.00. absolute bargain had a comp before and this is even better only complaint would be im 6'2 and a latrger frame option would be ideal. 19 October 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Micky28 3years on and 12000 miles An excellent all road machine, altered rear cassette to 36 -11cog and that gets me up all hills. The top speed pedalling is in the high 20's and acceleration is good. The disc brakes give you confidence in braking under all situations. The saddle is comfortable and have done 100 mile rides with relative ease The chains tend to last between 3000/4000 miles and no major problems have occurred 31 August 2015Rated 4 out of 5 by Boardman79 Great bike terrible customer service This is a great bike. I upgraded from the hybrid comp when this was in the sale for £550. Really fast, decent weight and components for the price. The bike was handed over to me by the assistant manager who didn't bother to check the brakes. There was far too much travel in the lever and when I pointed this out he said I just not to keep pressing them when in reality they needed to be bled. Also some glue was put on the thread that attaches them to the bar so I rounded off the screw trying to undo it because they were set up in the wrong place. I had to get the engineer from work to drill the nut out and he was as baffled as me as to why halfords had used this thread glue. Halfords need to pay their staff more so they take more pride in their work. Boardman are great bikes but it's just a shame you can't buy them from a normal bike shop so its set up and serviced properly. 14 October 2015
