Boardman Road Comp Bike - 51.5, 53, 55.5, 57.5cm Frames is rated out of 5 by 11.Rated 3 out of 5 by demacca from What a disappointment I had problems with the chain/gears making a noise and have had the bike back 4 times. Hopefully sorted now.Date published: 2018-05-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Dejay76 from Boardman Road Comp Picked up 3 weeks ago, and have ridden it most days to and from work in the rain, wind and the odd bit of sunshine. Absolutely love bike to ride. Sora gears work really well nice large rear cassette 11-30 give plenty of options. All Gear/Brake cables are under the handlebar tape so no more clothes lines as they say. TRP Sypre-C disc breaks are a joy to use, confidence in wet weather biking against the old caliper bikes I use to have on the old bike. Had the pedals changed to clipless as that is what I'm use to. The finishing paint jobs also catches the eye. During the wet weather I wasn't to hopeful for the tyres to resist getting punctures but gave them a chance before changing over to Gator Hardskins, the original tyres are still on the bike and going well. If you've only got space for one bike for commuting and weekend club rides give this a chance. I paid £560 now it's down to £525 bargain.Date published: 2018-03-28Rated 1 out of 5 by MadDogMuzza from Boardman Disappointment Bought the Road Comp in November 2017 as I was looking for a road bike that I could fit mudguards to for the winter. My wife had bought a Boardman a month earlier which she was really pleased with so I thought I'd go for this as it was on sale for £500 down from £700 I thought this is a good deal however I was wary that the running gear was Sora. I should have gone with my gut instinct and avoided it! I had to replace the chain and cassette after 500miles as it rusted and was reluctant to change gears. I regularly clean my bikes so muck and dirt weren't and issue. Even after cassette and chain renewed it still didn't run right. On top of this the cap broke of the A-Head stem and I had to get a new one ( Halfords kindly supplied free of charge). Tyres are also very poor and thin. However the straw that has broken the camels back is that I have now had to take my rear wheel back to get the bearing changed as is grinding like a bag of gravel. This bike is only 3 months old! Also the paint is very thin and has started wearing where the cables are rubbing and I put on frame protectors as well! All in all very, very disappointed with the andBoardman not worth £500 never mind the £700 at full price. Advice - please avoid this piece of rubbishDate published: 2018-02-04Rated 5 out of 5 by Madmarty9 from Happy Only just purchased the bike so can’t really give a detailed report however very impressed so far.Date published: 2018-01-10Rated 4 out of 5 by Mjb78 from Great Bike This is my first road bike and I love it. It was available to collect built and ready to ride the next day. Gears did click a little but managed to adjust them and now perfect.Date published: 2017-12-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Gwlad1999 from Old git getting back into cycling Friend who is into cycling recommend this bike - he was not wrong!!! Reccomend changing the pedals to spd ones other than that - greatDate published: 2017-11-28Rated 5 out of 5 by rehashlyrics from Excellent bike, better than average components. And it looks great in red. Good frame geometry for a beginner or for longer rides. Not aggressive and fairly neutral. Does respond well to climbing hills. Nice and stiff frame. Steering is plenty quick enough. Shimano sora drivetrain is a step up for this price. Well built and 10kg (for medium) for a bike with disks is on point. I have ridden bikes all my life (Im 45) and build and service them as well. I put this together myself as it was delivered. It was very well packaged, and it arrived with no damage. Easy to assemble as gears and brake already set up at factory. Just put on handlebars and put in wheels and go. I would highly recommend binning the supplied strap and clip pedalset (last seen from the 1980's). I put some Shimano Spd-sl on, should come with these as standard as they are £25. All in all I'm happy and would recommend this bike to anyone.Date published: 2017-11-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonny1968 from Boardman comp Very good value product. Sora gears much better than expected and the ride smooth. So far tyres good no punctures but only covered 100 mile so early days.Date published: 2017-10-30
