Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bike This is my first road bike and I love it. It was available to collect built and ready to ride the next day. Gears did click a little but managed to adjust them and now perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bike, better than average components. And it looks great in red. Good frame geometry for a beginner or for longer rides. Not aggressive and fairly neutral. Does respond well to climbing hills. Nice and stiff frame. Steering is plenty quick enough. Shimano sora drivetrain is a step up for this price. Well built and 10kg (for medium) for a bike with disks is on point. I have ridden bikes all my life (Im 45) and build and service them as well. I put this together myself as it was delivered. It was very well packaged, and it arrived with no damage. Easy to assemble as gears and brake already set up at factory. Just put on handlebars and put in wheels and go. I would highly recommend binning the supplied strap and clip pedalset (last seen from the 1980's). I put some Shimano Spd-sl on, should come with these as standard as they are £25. All in all I'm happy and would recommend this bike to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boardman comp Very good value product. Sora gears much better than expected and the ride smooth. So far tyres good no punctures but only covered 100 mile so early days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Budget bike, but its a good one Well, it looks like Boardman have done it again. They have made a very good bike on a tight budget. Usually you might think that a bike for this price wont be very good. But don't be put off by the price. Cheap and nasty this bike certainly is not. cheap yes, not at all nasty, quite the opposite, this is a very smooth and comfy ride. My last road bike cost me three times what this one cost me, and the ride quality was, to be honest a bit harsh. This one, I paid £700, and the ride quality is so much better. The components, are budget ones, by are still a good choice. The wheels roll easily, and well with the Vittorio Zaffiro's. They seem to be very good tyres. I have done a few hundred miles on the tyres now, with no punctures so far, and they do have some puncture protection. The Sora gearing is vastly improved what from it used to be like. Now these gears are very smooth. Gear changes are very smooth, all you need is a light press of the levers. The brakes, while only being cable discs, are very good, and I think would stop you when hurtling down some steep roads at 40 mph. Good bars and stem, with the later maybe slightly to long for me, good seatpost, saddle is good. All carbon fork as well, which helps to create the smooth ride. The only, thing really is that is it a little on the heavy side, but it is a budget bike, and it is a very good one. So a bit of sacrifice on the weight, but this is a very solid and stable, smooth riding machine. Well worth the money. Well done Boardman.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Boardman road comp After previously selling my full carbon boardman i thought I'd give the boardman road comp a try, partly swayed by the fact that the bike I had wanted had come off offer and gone up by £200! I bought this on the cycle to work scheme for the sum of £700, my letter of collection was for £900 so spent the xtra £200 on some accessories. Initially on the computer screen I wasn't too impressed with the bright red colour and preferred the older version which had more black on. However when I collected it in store I was pleasantly surprised. It is a metallic burnt orange/red and looks much better in real life rather than on screen. The staff in store were really helpful to be fair. However when I got it home I wasn't so impressed with how they'd set it up, I guess some of this is don to personal prefference. I had to change the angle of the handlebars as It was impossible to brake or change gear how they had left it. The brakes also were....were not braking, that's the only way I can put it really. It has much wider tyres than my previous road bikes, being 28mm, but this gives for a somewhat comfier ride. I upgraded to shimano pedals and a respiro saddle. I commute 40 miles a day sometimes and from experience the standard boardman saddles are so uncomfortable if you're doing any serious mileage. I also added a set of lights with the extra money. I'm not sure about the brakes yet, even after tweaking them they still seem to take a little longer than my old cantilever brakes did, I'm hoping they just need to bed in a bit. The majority of the derailleur appears to be plastic which is a bit disconserting, but we'll see how it goes. I rate the bike overall as good, and the bonus of the sightly wider tyres makes it a comfy every day ride, plus they are a lot easier to pump up as they only take 120psi. It is easy to work on too which is always a bonus.
