    • Carrera Crossfire 2 Mens Hybrid Bike - Black - 17", 19", 21" Frames is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bike and build I picked up my son’s new bike yesterday, and he is pleased with it, and to be fair it seems like a good bike. However, the build and service leaves a lot to be desired. Build - rear reflector not centred, seat not centred until noticed by another member of staff and the bell located so near the centre of the handle bar that it couldn’t be rung without taking your hand from the bar – does the bike assembler not ride a bike? In the grand scheme of things these are minor, but what confidence does it give that the more serious aspects like brakes, suspension and gears have been set up properly? We ordered puncture resistant slime but it’s not mentioned on the job sheet, nor did the staff member confirm it had been put in, so what evidence do I have that my £12 has been well spent? The frame is scratched and whilst I didn’t spot that in the shop, I’m pretty certain given where the scratches are they didn’t happen on the short ride home. So to the service, the job sheet says (amongst other things), that we have been shown how to remove the front wheel and the suspension is set to the PSI for his style of riding. We weren’t shown how to, or asked if we’d need any help, nor was there any discussion about riding style. It also says that I’ve been told about the free six week check, I wasn’t! The member of staff asked me if I knew about their servicing package “because brakes and gears need constant adjustment...” and only confirmed the free check when I asked about it. He was only focused on selling me the service package. Thankfully as an experienced cyclist, I know how to complete the basic maintenance tasks etc, but the Halfords team don’t know that, nor were they bothered about asking outside the context of upselling. I don’t buy my bikes from Halfords and as this is the last bike my son will need, as a child, it will be the last bike I buy from them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bike, for me. I am an OAP so I didn't want something that would climb high mountains. All I needed was a lightweight bike that is good on the road and good on a few bumpy pathway's. Its perfect for this and the gears make the riding experience not to difficult on my old legs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Ordered online, and delivered quickly, I had been looking for a performing hybrid for a while now, really wanted something quite dynamic with style. Was recommended the Carrera 2. Clocked 10 miles on the bike only to be dogged with gear selection issues. Powering up a hill it would change gear, and ping you stop. Almost every incline. ping. Plus no matter how much you adjust the front sus, its too soft. frustrated is a word but not the word I would like to use. After 30miles right pedal becomes loose. Then pap! it comes off, with all the crank screw thread attached. Now I have no bike. For the money, I should of gone else where. avoid unless you like the risk of knowing you might not reach your destination.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value I am quite happy with this bike. It is relatively light weight, maneuverable, and fortunately very stylish. The Halfords people were very helpful getting it set up as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leisure bike I bought this bike for mainly road cycling, and occasional terrain. This bike is comfortable to ride, going up hills is effortless, and the gear changes are seamless. I would highly recommend this bike.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good value Firstly i want to say that there is nothing really wrong with the bike, specially if we take the price in considerations. Most of the components are from know brands, but as not otherwise to expect of their lower end ranges. Let me start with the better components. The frame: the build quality seams really good, the welding looks nice and even. the geometry fits for me and the paint shop is decent. The handle bar: like the handles their used, comfy for long rides but still gives you enough feedback. The saddle: first it looks really small more like a road bike saddle, But was impressed by the amount of comfort it provides. (did not ride for 10 years) The brakes: If you again consider the price paid, having disk brakes (although mechanical operated) is a nice thing to have. The are providing good stopping power even in the wet or when you are off road and you rims would be muddy i.e. The modulations of the break is good, again a lot better then i have expected. now to the not to great bits. The gear system. I picked up the bike form the store, after i received the notification that the bike is ready and checked. took the bike home and had my first ride. The gears jumped all of the cassette. As i have experience with the bike i went home and adjusted the gearing. Once on the bike stand i realised how bad it was set up. (The chain came off on the highest gear at the rear and also jumped of the crankset on the lower ring).Once it was set up the gearing works ok. take again in consideration the price you paid. :) The pedals: in my opinions awful. The grip, (tried different shoes) is bad. And i think the last point will be the tyres: 700x40 kenda, its a bite for multi terrain. The first couple of rides i used mainly a path along a river. (also a cycle route) its a mix between tarmac & gravel. I had so many punctures mainly at the rear, which is normal as you put more weight on this wheel. After a 2 weeks and 4 punctures i ordered myself a different tyre, will not say the name here but one of the bike manufactures, the tyre is much thicker and providers therefor a better puncture resistance. had only one puncture since changed the rear tire and this was on the front tyre funny enough. But will change this tyre to the same as the rear as soon as i have a bit spare money. Verdict: if you are on a tide budget where the decision is a decent 2nd hand or a new budge bike, this bike is a good choice, wait for a good offer and invest for a decent tyre and ensure the gears set up properly and you will be a happy bunny.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but needs improvement I love the idea of the Hybrid cycle. The bike looks great, the brakes are really good and the bar grips feel very comfy indeed. There are some weak areas though. The handle bars can't be raised or lowered, this feature will cost you another twenty five pounds, this is not mentioned until after you buy the cycle! Gear selection is a bit hit and miss, I returned it to the shop, to be looked at but it all works fine with no load and on the stand in the shop. When you click to go up one gear it may not react, you click again and it goes up two gears, very annoying. There can also be chain noise in some gears, Halfords say that I shouldn't use those combinations? So it's not 24 speed then? The seat will not suit the bigger rider, too skinny for anything more than an hour.
