Introduction

Hardtails offer mountain biking in its purest form. However, a hardtail's simplicity doesn't mean it shouldn't be ready to shred or be forward-thinking in its design.

The updated Boardman MHT range delivers against both, with more connection to the trail, courtesy of new multi-alloy frame construction and a progressive geometry that places the MHT as a perfect all-rounder for UK trail centres and cross-country routes.

Frame & Fork

As with the rest of the updated MHT range, the 8.6 benefits from a longer top tube and slacker head tube than its predecessor. These changes improve the handling and stability, keeping you in control as you push the limits. Internal cable routing and allocation for a stealth dropper round out a clean, fuss-free look-and it's lighter, too!

A 120mm Suntour XCR32 Boost coil fork delivers smoother performance than its air-sprung equivalent and features a crown-mounted Speed Lockout, providing a simple, clutter-free way to lock the forks out as needed.

Groupset

Shimano CUES is a new addition to Shimano's componentry range and a direct result of riders asking for a durable, bombproof, yet affordable groupset that delivers outstanding performance across multiple riding styles.

The 10-speed version of the 8.6 features a wide 11-48-tooth cassette, delivering smooth and decisive shifting. Shimano's new LINKGLIDE shifting technology makes it three times more durable than the previous HYPERGLIDE systems.

Wheels & Tyres

Maxxis Forekasters are the perfect "fit and forget" choice for the MHT range, designed with UK conditions in mind.

Designed specifically for the demands of modern shorter-travel trail bikes, they feature a versatile tread pattern that rolls faster than Maxxis' Minion tyre while offering more cornering stability and braking performance than their more XC-focused options.

Finishing Kit

Hardtail contact points have to work a little harder than most, helping reduce trail chatter and smooth out vibrations.

A wide, supportive Boardman MTB saddle provides a solid platform for seated pedalling, whilst a textured surface allows you to reposition your weight as the trail demands. Up front, a strong, reliable 6061 alloy bar and short 45mm alloy stem, with Boardman lock-on grips, help ensure the bike goes in the direction you point it.
