The MTR 8.8 is a trail-ready full-suspension mountain bike, equipped with the spec and geometry to get the most out of British trails.
The new Boardman MTR 8.8 Mountain Bike features a new 29er platform with revised geometry to back its trail-focused specification. The 8.8 features Rockshox Recon Silver RL forks with 150mm of travel which is paired with a Deluxe Select+ which deliver a confidence inspiring ride. The bike features the new Shimano Deore M5100 1x 11 drivetrain with a huge 11-51T cassette which means the right gear is only ever a few clicks away.
You'll also get a dropper seat post and Tektro brakes. The new MTRs are built on 29 inch wheels which give fantastic stability and smoothness. They come wearing a set of tubeless-ready Maxxis Minion tyres which give superb grip regardless of how wet and muddy the trails become.

Trail ready spec
The MTR 8.8 wants to go out and get muddy, straight out of the box. The bike comes with a Satori dropper that's considered a must have amongst avid riders. You'll get both tubeless-ready wheels and tyres meaning simply add a tubeless kit - opens in a new tab and you're ready to go with low pressures enabling more grip without the risk of pinch flats. The Tektro brakes will give you confidence down the descents and the New Shimano M5100 1x11 drivetrain will deliver you effortless shifting through a huge range of gearing.
New 29er platform
Sitting on 29-inch wheels for the first time the Boardman MTR line-up have been designed as a range of trail ready bikes which feel composed and sturdy through British and Irish singletrack. With 150mm of fork travel and 145mm in the rear the MTR 8.8 is ready to soak up rough terrain. The 66 degree head angle is a degree slacker than the outgoing model and reach has been increased across all sizes to make for a longer, more planted bike.

The new MTR platform has been designed around real-world trail riding, with a geometry and suspension set up honed through countless hours of testing. They've also worked to develop a range of saddles using advanced pressure mapping and real-world testing to make sure any saddle on a Boardman bike is going to suit the majority of people riding it.
