Works when installed right.
For context I cycle 8 miles daily. About 2500 miles a year. For the last 8 months in 2020 I did not have these installed. I got about 30 punctures (mostly hawthorn). I cycle to work down roads with a lot of thorns.
At first I installed these in my tires and they would regularly (once every 2-3 weeks) tear the tube at the overlap of the anti-puncture strip. (very annoying). I put up with this for about 4 months, lower pressure helped reduce the rate of these type of punctures. Over these 4 months i got no punctures from objects penetrating the strip. About 8 months ago i had a great idea to use grey pipe insulation between the anti puncture strip and the inner tube.
A 1 meter long peice of pipe insulation (13-15mm wall-cavity thickness) when cut down the middle perfectly fits in a 2.0 inch tire.
With this setup i have had only one puncture in the last 8 months where a thorn somehow went all the way when i was cycling down a road just after the hawthorn hedges had been trimmed. ~200m of 20 spikes per square meter.
Impressive protection with the right setup.
