A damaged gear hanger is one of the most common causes of misaligned gears, if your rear gears aren't shifting crisply this could be because your gear hanger is bent and more often than not, simply replacing it can resolve the issue. The gear hanger is designed to be sacrificial, so that in the event of an impact it gives way preventing your frame from been damaged, therefore it is a common occurrence for the gear hanger to become misaligned. This can happen in the event of a crash, if the bike falls over or if you accidentally knock the rear derailleur, sometimes it can be difficult to spot, so if you notice any issues with your rear shifting, it's always best to get it checked by one of our instore experts because if left untreated the consequences can be catastrophic.
