Rated 3 out of 5 by nmfeb70 from Fit for purpose but... Firstly, I wouldn't use this rack on a new car. Ok, so it does the job and providing you take up the slack and tighten the bottom hooks again after mounting the bike to car, then the bike will go nowhere. I split open a tennis ball and placed it on the inner pedal to stop it denting my car. The problem is, because the bottom feet of the rack takes the weight of the bike, it is impossible to avoid marks on your paintwork. I have a sixteen year old boneshaker of a car so it isn't a big deal but if I owned a newish car I wouldn't buy this.

Even though it was cheap it didnt move, only quibble is the pedal holder and strap this pushes bike back causing bike to wobble more. Removing pedal helped tremtremendously and bike was still whole journey. Did add a bungee for extra security. Also good when towing caravan as keeps bike close to car, as i didnt want to take my 3 bike rake this was idea. No damage to car or bike. So very pleased. Just watch the pedal.

Thought £40 was pretty cheap when I bought it but it feels like no more than £10 worth of kit. Surprisingly fiddly to fit on a Mercedes 220 CDi estate. Wouldn't even attempt it without heavily covering the contact points with electrical tape. When mounted, the carrier fouls the rear windscreen wiper and the bike itself obscures the number plate to an extent that I would think is illegal. While I don't doubt that the 'physics' of the thing mean that it works, every component feels very flimsy and potentially snappable - for example, if fitting in a hurry having removed it at a service station or whatever. Whole structure felt wobbly with a 7.5kg carbon road bike, so I dread to think what it would be like with anything heavier. Would I use it to take a kid's bike to an MTB track five miles away? Probably. Would I use it to take my carbon road bike from Kent to the South of France? No.
