Wiggins Macon Kids Bike - 16" Wheel is rated out of 5 by 38.Rated 3 out of 5 by Tonksychick from Great bike but can’t use as bo one seems to know how to higher the handlebars! Bought this bike for my sons 4th birthday. It was set up to suit his size but obviously he’s grown now. Despite numerous calls to our local Halfords, no one seems able to deal with the requirements of a handlebar riser to move the handlebars so the bike has been redundant for months. So great bike but feeling like a waste of money right now. If anyone can help we would be really grateful....as woukd our son who is desperate to ride his shiny red super cool bike!!Date published: 2018-06-18Rated 5 out of 5 by carl004 from Could not ask for morr My son has had a Macon for 18months now and has had the best times if his life on it. Its done well in excess of 250/300 miles. Over bumps lumps and hills (the Mulvern hills and north downs). Its the envy of friends and cousin. Its light well made and inspires confidence. We sre keeping it for number 2 whike the eldest gets a Chartres. A bike that's our sons cycle club quite like. If you are looking for a cheap bike don't do it. Get this is you can. If you are stuck between this and a frog/isla honestly i cant see the difference. Cracking cracking bike.Date published: 2018-05-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotieslonko from This bike is brilliant, our son took basically 3 minutes to rided by himself, obviously after he has done it on a balance bike Excellent bicycle good shape and our son loves it,Date published: 2018-04-16Rated 5 out of 5 by Ss86 from Great weight and quality Bike is considerably lighter than other models and warrants the additional cost. Our 4 year old manages to pick up the bike with ease in those frequent crashes. Thought has been put into reinforcing ends of handlebars and bike looks great!Date published: 2018-04-11Rated 5 out of 5 by chris090808 from Excellent bike Having done quite a lot of research as to which bike to buy for my 5 year old son, I'm really glad I opted for the Macon. I'm not a big cyclist myself, so the Wiggins name tag wasn't really the pull for me. This bike is so light for the money. My son is finding it easy to get on and off. With help from me balancing him he isn't on stabilisers. He can reach the breaks and pedals easily and so far the lack of a chain guard hasn't been an issue. I set it up myself which wasn't too much of a chore - just make sure you set up the front break before putting the wheel on - not hard. The left and right pedals screw on anticlockwise and clockwise respectively. For the money, especially if you can find an online discount, I think this a great bike and would definitely recommend it.Date published: 2018-02-17Rated 5 out of 5 by stard3 from 4th Birthday present There is some conflicting info on recommended height (age) for 16" wheel bikes. Halfords say the age range for the Wiggins Macon Kids bike is 5 to 8 years old, however, another popular online bike shop say that a 16" bike is suitable for a 4 year old. I wanted this bike for my sons 4th birthday and despite the recommendations on halfords website i decided to buy it. On his 4th birthday my son was 102.5cms tall and i would say after watching him ride it, he is just big enough for this bike with the saddle as low as possible and with plenty of room to grow into it too. So thats 10cms smaller than halfords recommend but i think its perfect for him. The bike itself is great, and not to complicated to set up. If you get it delivered to home you have to put front wheels on, set up front brake, fit stabilisers, tighten handlebars and set seat height. The geometry of the bike is great and its just like riding a 'proper' bike, unlike some of the gimmicky bikes sold. Its gear ratio is good and the bike is very easy to ride and move around. I bought the bike with stabilisers and the bike has purpose placed threaded holes for the stabilisers. My 4 year old loves this bike and for the 1st time i've been able to ride along side him rather than walk beside him!Date published: 2017-10-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Bella82 from Amazing You cannot fault this Bike. Our son has struggled with pedals & stabilisers so he stuck to his balance bike. I had this Wiggins bike recommended to me and we had a look in the shop at it. It's nice & light which was a plus point for us. It looks good & my son loved the colours. The saddle is very easy to adjust (no tools required) We decided to buy it for our sons 5th birthday present. We got it built for free. We took our son to the park & I held the back of the seat & he started peddling - I let go & off he went! There was no stopping him! Within an hour he was starting himself off & using the brakes to stop & then starting again. We can't recommend this bike highly enough!Date published: 2017-09-09Rated 4 out of 5 by Stewmac1 from Ideal first real bike. Picked for lightness . Great first bike with low gearing so no problems getting up inclines. Like more expensive makes seems designed for children's hands making it easy to operate the brakes. Basically if you want a first real colds bike look no further.Date published: 2017-08-20
