<span itemprop="description">Bought this Halfords 6A smart charger to try and revive the EFB battery on my 2016 Honda Jazz 1.3 petrol (which has stop/start). Car would not start after being left on the drive for two weeks, due to an interior light left on.
This smart charger is neatly designed and compact. It cost just over £40 which included an online 10% discount. The instruction manual is mainly pictures, so getting everything connected is pretty easy to follow. I concur with another reviewer that the positive and negative leads don't have enough reach if you're trying to get to a battery terminal and a distant chassis bolt under the bonnet: another metre or so would be good.
When I initially connected the charger, it went into LiPo mode by default, which seems to be because I didn't scroll through the options fast enough. Trick is to plug in the mains, quickly press the charger's start button, then quickly press and release it repeatedly to get to the setting you want. If you make a mistake, unplug the mains and try again.
On my car, the first attempt was met with an error code: "Err 2" flashing on the display, with a low voltage that slowly increased from about 0.6 to 2.0. The manual has a note that says this can be due to poor connectivity to the battery terminals. In my case this may have been due to the battery terminal/post "shims" that I had in place. I removed these and started again, at which point the charger began to operate normally.
It took about 10 hours to charge to 14.4V, at which point I decided to try and start the car. The charger itself didn't report "Ful" until I disconnected everything, but the car started first time and so my experience with this product is, over all, a positive one.
Only the length of the cables prevents me from giving 5 stars.</span>
