MTB Helmets at Halfords

Whether you’re seeking protection from the muddy terrain or from low hanging tree branches, investing in a good MTB helmet will protect the most vulnerable part of your body in case of a crash.

While mountain biking, it's common to get an injury caused by angled impacts. Therefore it's important to always look for mountain bike helmets with MIPS protection as the slip-plane layer allows the helmet to move so that angled force isn’t applied to your head.

You may also consider investing in a mtb helmet with reflective features like the Hardnutz Stealth. The colour coded reflective 3M Scotchlite panels on the outer shell of the helmet will improve your vision with the changing light conditions in the forest.

Halfords have a variety of mountain bike helmets available in all styles and colours to ensure your needs and preferences are met. We also sell full face MTB helmets, ideal for those that prefer downhill riding. Check out our Bike Helmet Buying Guide for more information on what helmet would be best suited to you.

MTB Helmets FAQs

Are full face MTB helmets safer?

For downhill riding and more technical trails, many riders feel more confident in a full face helmet because it adds protection around the jaw and face. For gentler rides, though, a standard MTB helmet is often what people reach for.

Can I use an MTB helmet for road biking?

Plenty of cyclists do. An MTB helmet will still protect your head on the road, although it may feel a little bulkier than a typical road cycling helmet. It really comes down to what feels comfortable for your ride.

How long do MTB helmets last?

A helmet can look fine on the outside but still be getting old. Most riders start thinking about a replacement after a few years of regular use, and any helmet that's taken a hard knock is usually best retired sooner rather than later.
