Halfords E-Bike and E-Bike System Safety Policy

To keep our customers and colleagues safe, and to ensure we can offer the best E-Bike services, we only repair E-Bikes and systems that our colleagues are fully trained on and are classed as legal Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPC).

Our colleagues can only undertake work on:

  • E-Bikes that have been purchased at Halfords
  • E-Bikes with certain branded systems; Shimano, Bosch, Fazua and Sport Drive

In addition to this the E-Bike must:

  • Meet all criteria within the EAPC guidelines as have been set by the UK Government:
    • The Motor can only have a Max power up to 250 watts
    • Electrical system speed of no more than 15.5mph
    • Pedals must be capable of propelling
    • Throttle must only work until 4mph
  • Have a battery that visually appears to be free from any damage
  • Be free from any electrical modifications (including an eBike conversion kit or any sort of tampering)

If the E-Bike does not meet all the requirements above, then no work including mechanical repairs can be carried out to fully ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues.

If you are unsure please speak to one of colleagues.
