Nextbase iQ Subscriptions explained

Nextbase iQ 1K Smart Dash Cam is a connected smart dash cam system designed to provide protection both while driving and when your vehicle is parked.

Using AI-powered features, it offers more than standard video recording, with smart alerts, live monitoring, and emergency support through the Nextbase iQ app. Read all about it in our dedicated blog.

To unlock additional capabilities, three subscription tiers are available:

  • Solo Plan
  • Protect Plan
  • Protect Plus Plan

Each plan offers a different level of connected protection depending on how much monitoring and remote access you need.

Subscription flexibility

All Nextbase iQ subscriptions are flexible and can be changed when needed.

There is no long-term commitment, so drivers can upgrade temporarily if they want extra protection for a specific journey or situation.

For example, if your car is being left in an airport car park while you travel, you can switch to a higher-tier plan for added monitoring, then return to the free plan afterwards.

Solo Plan

Free

The Solo Plan allows Nextbase iQ to be used as a premium dash cam without a paid subscription.

This includes:

  • Dash cam recording
  • Front and cabin camera coverage
  • iQ app access
  • Voice control
  • Real-time text notifications

This option is suitable for drivers who want high-quality recording without connected remote monitoring.

Protect Plan

£6.99 per month or £69.99 per year

The Protect Plan adds connected live protection features designed to keep your vehicle secure while you are away from it.

LiveView

LiveView gives you instant access to camera feeds through the iQ app, allowing you to see what is happening in and around your vehicle in real time.

This can be useful when:

  • Your vehicle is parked somewhere unfamiliar
  • You want to check on your car remotely
  • You receive an alert and want immediate visual confirmation

SmartSense Parking

SmartSense Parking uses AI, radar, and G-force sensors to monitor movement around your vehicle while parked.

You can adjust monitoring zones around each side of the vehicle, creating a more personalised protection area.

If unusual activity is detected, the system sends alerts directly to your phone.

RoadWatch AI

RoadWatch AI helps analyse previous footage by tracking:

  • Vehicle speed
  • Direction of travel
  • Relative movement of surrounding vehicles

This can help provide more detailed recorded evidence if footage is needed after an incident.

Emergency SOS

Emergency SOS is designed to contact emergency services if a serious collision occurs and the driver is unresponsive.

It can automatically share:

  • Vehicle location
  • Medical details
  • Blood type

with emergency responders.

Witness Mode

Witness Mode is designed for situations where you may feel vulnerable or threatened.

By voice command, live video and audio can be shared instantly with a chosen contact. Just say “Start Witness Mode” to start sending live footage.

Guardian Mode

Guardian Mode is useful when someone else is driving your vehicle.

You can set driving limits such as:

  • Speed
  • Location boundaries

If these are exceeded, the system sends a notification so you can review the live feed.

This can be useful when the vehicle is being driven by:

  • Family members
  • A mechanic
  • A valet driver

Remote access through the iQ app

Protect features are managed through the Nextbase iQ app, which provides access to live feeds, alerts, and subscription controls.

Protect Plus adds live alerts when incidents happen, helping drivers respond more quickly to activity around their vehicle.

Automated incident backup

Tagged incident footage is automatically backed up to the cloud.

This helps protect important recordings if:

  • A collision occurs
  • Footage is needed for evidence
  • Local files are lost or overwritten

Protect Plus includes 180 days of cloud storage, compared with 30 days on Protect.

Multi-user settings

If more than one person drives the vehicle, Protect Plus allows up to five user accounts.

This means settings can be personalised for different drivers, including:

  • Different nominated Witness Mode contacts
  • Individual SmartSense Parking preferences
  • Separate usage settings
