What is Chainline and why does it matter?

Chainline is determined by the dimensional relationships between the frame, cassette, and chainrings. Incorrect chainline can cause poor shifting, excessive friction and wear, and unintended shifting. Incorrect chainring spacing can also affect chainline.

The XX1 Eagle DUB Boost crankset has a 52.0mm chainline for bikes with 148mm (Boost) rear frame spacing.
