Maxxis Forekaster Folding Tyre
The original Forekaster was designed as a wet weather option for XC, while the new version is aimed squarely at modern short travel (100mm-130mm) trail bikes - aka the downcountry segment.
Intended to be a Goldilocks tyre, the new Forekaster rolls fast but also provides solid cornering and braking traction in a broad range of trail conditions.
Features include: A densely packed tread pattern to increase rolling efficiency, taller side knobs to improve cornering grip and raised ridges on the casing to promote mud clearing.
Redesigned from the ground up, the new Forekaster is the latest trail tyre from Maxxis. Slotting in between our XC and gravity treads, the Forekaster is light, fast and grippy.
**Technology -
Tubeless Ready:**
Tubeless tyres provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tyre; and less chance of flatting because there is no tube.
Puncture Protection:
An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tyres. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tyre remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.
Compounds:
Above all, Maxxis is known for the quality and performance of its rubber compounds. Rubber compounds are tailored to meet the needs of specific riding disciplines or conditions. Maxxis can produce tyres with one, two or three individual rubber compounds depending on the intended application. The Forekaster is available in a choice of compounds:
Dual Compound:
Two distinct rubber compounds are used within the tread to offer a balance between rolling resistance and grip.
Triple Compound (3C):
Maxxis' 3C tyres use a firm base rubber to reduce rolling resistance and progressively softer rubber on outer layers to optimize traction. Maxxis offer three different triple compound options: 3C MaxxSpeed, 3C MaxxTerra and 3C MaxxGrip. The Forekaster is available here with the 3C MaxxTerra which is an intermediate triple compound suitable for all-around trail riding.
Wide Trail Construction:
Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tyre's tread layout and profile to match today's modern, wider rims. Maxxis offers WT tyres for everything from XC to gravity applications. A 30mm internal width rim is ideal for most applications, but WT tyres can be used on rims ranging from 19mm to 35mm internal.
