Using competition rubber compounds, sourced from Michelin Road bike tyres, the Pilot SX features a tread pattern intended for racing on soft tracks or in autumn/winter conditions. The tyre is tubeless ready (TLR) to reduce weight and improve rolling resistance by around 15 to 25 percent compared to the same tyre running with an inner tube. It comes with a robust three layer casing to resist damage, improve durability and cope with tyre pressures of up to 5 bars.

The Michelin Pilot SX tyre has been designed to give extra grip while cornering, particularly on hard-packed or dusty terrain.

Tubeless Ready tyres can be fitted without an inner tube provided that a tubeless wheel is used, the maximum pressure is not exceeded, sealant is added, and the tyre pressure is checked before each ride.
