Speed Gains at Lower Tyre Pressures

The 303 XPLR rim design provides measurable speed gains by lowering your tyre pressure more than with previous wheels. A rider going 32 kph on gravel riding 40mm wide tires saved about 8 watts at 28 psi (1.9 bar) compared with a more traditional gravel wheel with 40mm tires at 36 psi (2.5 bar).

Greater Aero Efficiency at Higher Speed

The 303 XPLR's deeper and wider rim design means better aero performance. At average race speeds (about 29-36kph), Zipp internal testing found 2-watt savings from aero efficiency gains compared with a peer wheel. The advantage grew to 10 watts or more when speeds exceeded 53kph on descents and other fast sections.

That is why Zipp designed its XPLR tyres in a radically different process: Start with an ideal gravel tyre and create a wheel around it.
