Bike Pedals and Pegs at Halfords

Our range of bike pedals is categorised by riding discipline. Depending on the type of riding, mountain bikers have a choice of MTB clipless and flat pedals. Generally speaking, flat pedals are for fun and personal preference, whereas clips are suitable for racing. Within our range, you'll find clipless pedals for both road bikes - opens in a new tab and mountain bikes - opens in a new tab from the likes of Shimano, Boardman and Crank Brothers. Our clipless road pedals offer quick and easy shoe interaction with cleats included. They also ensure consistent power transfer, allowing you to ride faster for longer with less effort. Our clipless MTB pedals are suitable for tackling single track and ultra-technical descents in cross country trail. They are compact, lightweight and have open designs to reduce the amount of mud they collect. Some of our range are double sided SPD pedals, which allow you to stick out your foot and clip it back in easily. You'll find something for every rider within our range, as it covers all price points and riding disciplines. On top of this, most of our bike pedals come in a choice of colours, so you can match your new pedals to the design of your bike no problem.

Bike Pedals and Pegs FAQs

How to install bike pedals?

Start by checking which pedal goes on which side as they’re marked left and right. The right one tightens clockwise, and the left one tightens the opposite way. Use a pedal wrench or Allen key to screw them in firmly, but not too tight. Adding a bit of grease on the threads will make them easier to remove later.

Are bike pedals universal?

Not always. Most modern bikes use the same thread size, but some kids’ or older bikes can be different. It’s best to check your crank before buying new pedals to make sure they’ll fit properly.

Are all bike pedals the same size?

No, they can vary slightly in shape and thread type. Most adult bikes use a standard size, but BMX, kids’, or vintage bikes might need something different. If you’re not sure, just bring your bike or pedal into Halfords and we’ll help you find the right fit.
