Baby Car Seats at Halfords
A baby car seat is one of the most considered purchases you’ll make, and here at Halfords we can help ensure you make the right decision. We stock a wide range of baby car seats from the most popular and reputable brands, that comply with current UK safety laws.
Why Choose a Baby Car Seat?
Baby car seats come in various shapes and sizes, so it’s important to make sure you’re getting the seat that’s right for you and your child. Group 0+ car seats are suitable for babies up to approximately 12 months old or up to 13kg (whichever comes first), whereas group 0/1 car seats can be used from birth right up to 4 years of age. Baby car seats support your little ones developing head, neck, and spine during the most delicate time of their lives. We also stock a wide range of group 1 and 123 car seats, suitable for babies from 9 months and onwards, alongside booster seats and toddler car .
Rearward-Facing Safety
Paediatric experts recommend that you keep your child in a rear-facing car seat until they are at least 15 months old. This is because rearward-facing car seats are more supportive of your baby’s spine, as they cannot hold their own head up until a certain age - this is especially relevant during a crash. Also, rear-facing baby car seats help to minimise the damage from a road accident, offering ultra protection. If you want the best of both worlds, we stock car seats that turn, so you can drive safely and remove your sleeping baby from the car.
Shop Leading Brands
To keep your little bug snug and safe right from their very first car journey, you’ll want a sturdy, reliable baby car seat. Here at Halfords, we’ve got seats from trusted brands such as Joie, Cozy n Safe and Graco. With plenty of seats featuring Isofix technology to keep your baby stable while you’re driving, you can travel with confidence.

Baby seat FAQs
How do I correctly fit a baby car seat?
Firstly, ensure that your new baby car seat is appropriate for your child’s age, weight and height. Then install the base, making sure that it can’t move further than 1 inch. Check the reclining angle of your car seat as the incorrect angle presents potential asphyxia risks. If you’re using the convenient Isofix system, clip the anchoring arms into the in-built points in your vehicle. You should hear a clear ‘click’. For more instructions, check out our guide on Isofix car seat fitting.
What is the free child seat consultation?
You can book a free 30-minute consultation to assess your needs like your child’s size and age, your vehicle, and your desired features. You will receive a tailored recommendation from our experts, who will then demonstrate how to easily install and remove the car seat from your vehicle. This quick and easy process ensures that convenience, safety and comfort are at the forefront of your car seat shopping experience.
How long can a baby safely stay in the seat?
Pediatric professionals recommend that young babies should not be kept in their car seats for longer than 2 hours at a time due to potential asphyxia risks. However, we know that some long road trips cannot be avoided. If you’re taking your baby on a road trip, be sure to take frequent breaks (every 1–2 hours) so that their bodies can move and stretch, or lie flat. Consider fitting a mirror so you can keep a close eye on their behaviour and breathing. Never leave your baby asleep in their car seat once the car is parked.
