Handlebar FAQs
How do you adjust handlebars on a bike?
To have your handlebars on your bike adjusted, first identify the type of stem you own either quill or threadless. In a quill stem, loosen the top bolt, reposition the angle or height, and tighten securely. For a threadless stem, loosen side bolts, reposition the handlebars or stem respectively, and retighten all in tight manner. Always double-check the handlebars for alignment before you ride out.
How to raise handlebars on a mountain bike?
To raise your mountain bike handlebars, you will need to loosen the stem bolts. If you possess spacers, you can move them up or down above or below the stem to alter the height. Place it in its correct position and secure the bolts tightly. In quill stems, you can just raise the stem upward by loosening the top bolt. If unsure, pop into your local Halfords store or have a go at our online guides and tools to help you get the right fit.
