The ContiVikingContact 6 comes with a asymmetrical pattern layout of Divided Tread Technology (DTT) which offers the possibility of placing functional elements at pattern positions where they are most efficient. The result: enhanced performance on snow, ice and dry roads.
For a strong grip in snow, the longitudinal grooves within the inner tread are equipped with snow chains, which create an interlocking effect and increase snow friction. Thanks to a high number of snow traction oriented blocks and multi-edge sipes, the new ContiVikingContact 6 comes with safer snow handling.
The middle area of the tread, with its particular distribution of sipes in the tread blocks, interlocks safely with icy roads. When braking on ice, a thin layer of water, the so-called “liquid layer”, can be observed in the contact area under the tyre. Due to a wiping effect, an optimum amount of sipe edges is formed so as to reduce the liquid layer and prevent the floating of the tyre.
While cornering on dry surfaces, the stiff double blocks on the outside of the tyre offer high grip and increased lateral stiffness. The blocks support each other and therefore achieve maximum stability.
