What’s Included in a Halfords Car Service?
Booking your vehicle in for service is the best way to prevent future problems like breakdowns, road accidents or major engine damage. If minor issues are caught early, our Halfords technicians can often repair them on the same day – saving you money in the long run and keeping you safe behind the wheel.
You can select different Halfords car services based on when your vehicle was last serviced and how many miles you’ve driven. All our services cover the necessary checks of your brakes, tyres, suspension, steering and more. We also carry out an engine oil and oil filter replacement during every car service. All Halfords services adhere to your vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines and equal manufacturer servicing in terms of quality, efficiency and reliability.
Interim Service Includes:
An interim service is a 56-point check designed for every 6 months or 6,000 miles. It includes all the typical checks of your essential components, including brakes and steering, as well as an engine oil and oil filter change to ensure that all car parts are lubricated and protected.
Full Service Includes:
What does a full service include? This 76-point inspection covers all the essential checks, including an engine oil and oil filter change, plus an air filter replacement (worth up to £70), improving the air quality of your car cabin. Additional checks are carried out on components such as coolant seals, windscreen condition and more.
Major Service Includes:
This 78-point major service is intended for every 24 months or 24,000 miles and includes a full and in-depth examination. A major service consists of all the previous checks and top-ups, in addition to a cabin filter and brake fluid replacement, worth up to a total of £179.99.

Car Servicing FAQs
What is checked during a car service?
A Halfords car service covers many important checks to your vehicle’s interior, exterior, engine and undercarriage. They also all include an essential engine oil and oil filter change. Upgrade your car service checklist for an air and cabin filter replacement as well as a brake fluid change.
Is an oil change part of a service?
All of our car services include an engine oil change to ensure that your car parts are lubricated, clean and the engine can dissipate heat. You can book an engine oil and oil filter change separately. However, it’s recommended that you arrange an interim service for a detailed examination of your car’s functions and efficiency.
How do I know which service I need?
You can book your next car service based on when you last received one, or how far you’ve driven your car since. The difference between interim and full service is that a 76-point full car service checklist includes an air filter, worth up to £70, as well as the interim engine oil and oil filter change.
Can a service identify MOT issues?
A car service involves our trained technicians examining multiple areas and components of your car. If there is any damage or wear to your car parts, we’ll identify them and can often carry out same-day repairs. Scheduling a regular car service reduces the risk of failing your annual MOT, as we can catch smaller issues before they develop into major problems.
