Our range of camping cooking equipment
Cooking outside is one of the joys of camping, so why not do it properly with our range of outdoor cooking equipment? Key pieces of kit you’ll need include:
A camping kettle
No stereotypically British camping trip is complete without a cup of tea between walks. For that, you’ll need a simple stainless steel whistling kettle - and don’t forget to bring along your favourite tea bags and coffee granules. These kettles can also help you quickly heat pot noodles, or clean off your equipment.
Camping stoves
We have simple, portable gas stoves that are perfect for any hike or a festival. If you’re catering for more people, our Halfords Portable Gas Stove has a bigger and more powerful burner that’s capable of creating a great camping curry or a famous full-English breakfast. Don’t forget to bring a camping lighter too, it’s a small item, but essential for getting your stove going. Check out our cooking tips article for inspiration.
Camping gas canisters
Of course, you’ll need enough camping gas to see you through your trip. If you’re heading out solo for a day or two’s worth of camping, a 100g gas canister should get you through. However, as you add more meals into your cooking plan and throw more people into the mix, you’ll quickly find a need to scale up the amount of camping gas you’re using - so plan around having enough gas to boil one litre of water per person, per meal.
As well as gas stoves and replacement gas canisters we’ve got a great selection of cooking equipment that will have you boiling, frying and grilling up a feast at any campsite. In-store or online you can also find a superb range of camping tableware and accessories that are built for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You can choose your camping cooking essentials online and have them delivered to your home when you spend over £20, or use our Click & Collect service to have them taken to your nearest Halfords store.
Cooking Equipment FAQs
How to use a camping stove?
It’s pretty straightforward. Set the stove on a flat surface, away from anything that could catch fire. Make sure it’s stable. Then attach the gas canister securely, give the gas dial a small turn and spark it with the built-in ignition or a lighter. Once it’s going, just turn the flame up or down depending on what you’re cooking. Stay close while it’s on, and when you’ve finished, turn the gas off completely. Give it time to cool down before you pack it away.
How to put gas canister in camping stove?
First things first, make sure the stove's off and cool. Then pop open the bit where the canister goes. You’ll see a little slot or guide inside line that up with the notch on the canister. Give it a firm push so it fits snugly. Some stoves have a lever or latch to hold it in place, so it’s worth checking that too. Once it’s set, you’re good to go. If you need a stove or some extra gas, Halfords has a bunch of options to choose from.
