Halfords Car Cap Medium is rated out of 5 by 5.Rated 1 out of 5 by cuthbert1998 from Not fit for purpose Am very disappointed with this product. I presume that this was designed more for the colder seasons but even in the slightest breeze the elastic stretches, I have only had the product two weeks but already two of them have come off the cover. The cover itself seems ok but Halfords really need to re-think how it is secured. It really needs something like bungee clips instead of flimsy elastic which stretches.Date published: 2017-11-27Rated 5 out of 5 by wolody from Hold back the storms This was bought as our convertible leaks when the weather is really bad. The good point about this is that it is easy to fit and remove so makes the vehicle easy to access and cover, a vital requirement for ourselves.Date published: 2017-07-19Rated 4 out of 5 by Miat from Great item I originally purchased this for my previous car, and it always worked very well. It is now over 4 years old and still doing the job I purchased it for. Whilst my neighbours are out with the de-icer or scrappers, I just peel off the cover and drive off to work.Date published: 2016-12-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Lederhosen from Absolute rubbish This product is a real joke, how on earth can Halfords put their name to this? There are 4 flimsy elasticated straps to hold this in position using plastic hooks at one end. This was on my car for two days when I came out on the third morning, the car was devoid of the cover. The cover was found cowering beneath a hedge about 15 yards away. In just a light breeze two of the straps had broken rendering the cover even more useless than it was.Date published: 2016-03-02Rated 1 out of 5 by Gordon935 from No good for the purpose for which it is sold I own an old Skoda which has dodgy door seals, and the car cap seemed an ideal way to stop the interior getting wet in winter. I used to have a cover for an old Jag years ago and I'm quite used to covering a car when it isn't in use. However, this one is far too flimsy for the job - it was a breezy day when I tried to fit it and one elastic strap broke; the fixing to the material was just a single seam. The material is very lightweight and clearly not up to outdoor use; it might be ok to provide protection for a car kept in a garage. The straps have no adjustment, so it is not possible to tighten it to prevent the wind blowing it about. There is no means (like eyelets) to fix a strap to run under the car, which is the best way to secure a car cover, it just seems to rely on gravity to hold the very lightweight cover in place. It would be better to have fixed, strong straps sewn to each corner that can be tied to wheel covers, or run under the car to tie to the one on the other side. I was going to return the product, but remembered I had a tarpaulin I had bought a couple of years ago which, with four old shoe laces and a couple of bungee cords, does the job I need; the car cap is now needed in the attic, as a wrap for the carpet that the tarpaulin was previously protecting. In short - in my 56 years I don't think I have ever bought anything less suited to the task for which it is sold by a major retailer. Halfords clearly haven't tested this product fitted to cars in the English winter.Date published: 2015-12-22
