<span itemprop="description">Does exactly as stated. Fitted by Halfords Hartlepool who it has to be said did a first-class job. That is where the good points stop. However, not to pleased with the distribution collation, and the sourcing of basic parts to allow the fitting to take place was utterly shambolic. It took 4 to 5 weeks of continual mistakes by those not based at Hartlepool before the fitting could be carried out. Disappointed. Once again Hartlepool staff did a first-class job, I could see their frustration.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I installed this stereo in my 1995 MR2 to add a bit of modernity and functionality, but there are some annoying issues with this unit I can't get over. I'm surprised this has been revered so much by the other reviewers.
The good: Carplay on a budget. Has pre-outs for active speakers, and a microphone. It also uses your car's illumination wire to dim the display when you turn your lights on. Sound quality is decent but this is more down to the amplifier if you're using active audio, like I am. I can't speak for passive audio (driven by the stereo itself).
The bad: you already know that it's only wired, and only Apple carplay. I suppose that can be expected at this price point. The touch-screen is also fairly cheap-feeling and plasticky.
The main issues I have with this unit are technical. The first being, the power aerial signal is always active when the unit is on, not just when using the radio function. If your car has a retractable antenna, this means that the antenna will always be extended when the stereo is on. Since I don't use the radio much, I've just resorted to unplugging the power antenna.
Worse still, this head unit has only volatile memory, no storage. Meaning, if it loses power, for instance being disconnected from the battery, all its settings are reset and it goes back into demo mode. This wouldn't be too much of an issue, but it drains a whopping 170mA when the car is off! Easily enough to drain the battery in a week or two. So, I've just wired it to accessory power and leaving it on default settings every time. There's also no way to turn the head unit off without turning the car off.
Finally, the physical volume knob is great, and why I chose it, but it would have been great to have physical forward and backward buttons too.</span>

<span itemprop="description">Fantastic little unit and the second one I have bought for older cars. The unit works perfectly, is simple to use and allows full Apple CarPlay, WAZE especially, to be easily used for trips. Fantastic bit of kit and a very affordable upgrade.</span>
