  • Boardman 22 Function Cycle Computer is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Complicated and messy I bought it to hit my distance goals mountain biking. I spent an hour setting it up and in the end I was left with a bulky messy sensor layout that has to be 5 mm from the magnet. It doesn't look nice on the bike. It looks old and heavy. The mount for the computer is solid and easy to use. I went on a cycle and set the altitude at the start of the spin and it was off by 10m when I got back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good product; poor screen. Plus points: good speed sensor with battery indicator - quick to set up (don't use cadence); continuous altitude readout; wheel circumference set up goes to 2 decimal places for accuracy. Minus points: worst screen ever, hazy figures (with battery tested), every digit visible under the surface, impossible to read off-centre or in bright conditions, scratches too easily; clumsy bar mounting set-up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working well Easy to set up and use. The only problem is that you cannot set the speed in miles per hour without setting the altitude in feat and temperature in Fahrenheits at the same time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works Having got feed up with the low run times of Garmin thought i would try this comp out. Good price for the functions it has and seems well made. Right pop pickers the fitting. Very easy to fit and used the rubber bands not the zip-ties on all parts except the crank magnet . Comp setting, now my only complaint and this is to all companies PRINT BIGGER. set it up within 5 mins and had it working all except the rear censor, soon worked out this was because i use a - deg stem. Move comp to left hand side of bar and all is fine and dandy in the world. I believe a lot of the bad reviews on here are down to bad fitting. Great little comp for the price with plenty of extra fitting bands and zip ties and even a spare battery

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot fit according to instructions The cadence sensor needs to be within 80cm of the unit. Not possible even on my relatively small 52cm frame. Solution = mount the display half way along the top tube = difficult to read. it's meant to be handlebar or stem mounted. Alternatively it could be mounted to the downtube. Not then possible for the magnet mounted on the crank to be within the required 5mm. Solution = fit a larger magnet = it doesn't work as supplied out of the box The display looks great and has the functions I need but the narrow requirements for fitting would make it unsuitable for even the smallest bikes. Attention to detail on this are very poor and not something I would expect of Boardman brand. This is going back and I will look elsewhere

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK for speed & distance if all your need is a cycle computer to record your speed and distance there are far cheaper options out there. this looks like a nice unit. a little complicated to programme. the advanced features simply don't work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money just tried to fit to an indoor trainer so could use the cadence and speed, cadence works, but it can't find the speed censor if its on a back wheel works on the front but you have to have it turned in to the wheel. Hours to try and set up the head unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Boardman Cycle Computer I'm a beginner to cycling having only really started just before Christmas. Im attempting to cycle a 100mile event later this year and have been following a training plan. To successfully do so I needed to be able to see my cadence/avg speed/time/distance for me to get the best out of my training. I looked able to any options across multiple different websites and finally settled on this. Reasons being are that it was one of the cheapest whilst also being very comprehensive with the data it provided. It was wireless. Which I liked the idea of as it allows me to remove it easily for washing/servicing. It provided speed and cadence sensors. Many more expensive do either or not both. It was actually quite easy to set up with options to allow you to get the best signal between the sensors and computer. The computer was easy enough to program as well. The caveat being, read the instructions, then if you get stuck, go back to the instructions. It is simple enough if you take your time. On the bike the computer is easy to read and you can scroll through the different outputs at the click of a button. This is easy enough but can be a bit cumbersome in wintergloves. There is a backlight if conditions are darkening. Overall, for a beginner looking to get into using data feedback to improve their cycling I don't think you'll get better value for money vs output. Yes, pay more and you might get better sensors, display etc but this is perfectly adequate for beginners and beyond I'd suggest.
